2017 E63s vs 2017 Panamera Turbo S
If you have driven the 2010-2016 Panamera you will probably realize these four things
-E63 is considerably faster (but feels a lot slower than the Panamera) -Build quality of the Porsche is much better -The handling and agility of the heavier Porsche makes the MB feel like it's on solid axles -The Porsche is a whole whole lot uglier and really hard to ignore Also to add I know the Panamera is also more expensive. That being said, you have a $220k budget for a daily driver.....which would you pick??? Personally, I would take the Porsche if it drives like the older ones. Jeez I was seriously considering trading my Renntech tuned E63 for a 2014 Panamera turbo and felt like I would not miss the power one bit. I do not know any AWD I actually enjoyed driving like I did the Panamera. The 2014 Es felt pudgy and forced through turns and I could never really get used to it on multiple test drives. Never considered the older Porsche cos lets face it, only a mother could love the backend. Now with the new E63 rear, I feel like it's gunning for the Porsche (no it's not as bad) all the while not sure if its dynamics can match. I cannot wait to see how a heads up with the new 4matic plus fairs against competitors and the Panamera. What do you guys think? |
I think I'd rather go the new E63s over the Porsche... Personal choice I guess.
If I was to get a Porsche daily it would have to be a 911 Turbo S. |
|
The new one definitely looks much better, especially the rear end.

I have to agree with you Peter. I am going to take a hard look at the Panamera when it is time for my 2013 E63s to go. I may actually keep it and just build a car collection. I am trying to get my wife to allow me to buy a house with enough room for a 7 car garage.
My next new vehicle - 2017 Ford Raptor.... that raptor is awesome ... keep working the wife ... she will come around |
2017 Panamera is finally good looking, hunchback gone.
New E63 is a very tempting proposition even though they moved the gear selector to steering column like in the S-Class, a very geriatric solution, IMO. Now, the new Turbo S is supposed to be a hybrid, V8 with 550HP and additional 2 electric engines with a combined 160HP. A total of 710HP and instant torque from electric power will do wonders for the performance of that car. Even regular Turbo with "piddly" 550HP is tempting with it's 7:38s Ring time making it the fastest sedan on record there. Choices, choices, what are we supposed to do? What a problem to have...... |
I think the Panamera Turbo is the better car, and the Turbo S will be even more.spectacular.
However they are a lot more expensive. The 2017 Panamera Turbo well equipped is around $167k. That's probably about 50k more than a comparably equipped E63. E63 has typically been priced to compete with the Panamera 4S. |
220K... i would get the new e63s and use the leftover 100-120K to buy the new audi RS3, a jeep wrangler with tow hitch and jet skis :)

Wagon
The choice gets much easier if you need a big boot and seat 5. To me the E63S Wagon is the clear winner here plus the looks are world class. On top of that, who likes Panamera's cockpit button explosion?

New Turbo S Hybrid is confirmed with 688HP.
A more luxurious and definitely quicker car then E63S (a bit academic at that level of performance anyway). ...but at easy twice the price you have to really piss the $$$ to make that decision as the Benz increasingly looks like a steal of the century (vs Porsche) at 50% price and 99% performance. |
688hp is nice, will surely be a rocket. How much torque will the porsche have?
i still think for looks w212/13 are nicer than it for a lot less $ and similar performance for w213. |

So to make it more interesting, you get to buy only one car and your kids are all 5'8" and 5'11 early teenagers (there are 2 of them and you do drive around with them often)

Oh, and it looks like they moved gas filler lid. Maybe it's behind the license plate like they used to do on some cars so you can stare at that ugly a$$ everytime you fill up. |
