Ended up just going with sotto 2 that were available. Hopefully next winter we'll see some better options here in Canada. Will be keeping my stock wheels as winter wheels.

I ended up getting these tires. Going to use them on my stock wheels. I had the dunlops on a e92 M3 in 2010-2012 & they got me from Baltimore to NJ in a pretty decent snow storm (snowed moderate to heavily the entire drive). They earned my trust, and since theres not a lot available, I went with them again.

EDIT

I may change to the staggered 255 & 295 sotto 3 ..hmmmm ....whats everyones thoughts?

Have the Pirelli setup. (near) factory look, decent ride. Just installed and haven't had deep snow yet but sottozero's on our SL have worked well for 3+ years in MN winters.

MB OEM Rims

My dealer refused to support or even recommend a winter setup for my 2018 E63S Wagon. Though at delivery, comically, they wanted me to sign a waiver/acknowledgement that the Michelin Pilot Sport OEM tires were not suitable for winter driving. Anyway, they let me purchase the 19" rims mentioned by bobblehead elsewhere in this thread (front part number: A2134012600, rear: A2134014600) at my own risk. We took the rims, four Mercedes TPMS (part: 0009052102), four hub inserts (part: 2224002200) and four Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 255/40R19 studded tires to our detailer (Colorado Detail) for installation. They powder coated the rims in 20% gloss black and used black tape weights for balancing. Everything fits and looks great. Drove our first 200 miles today up into the mountains in search of snow SaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSaveSave

Wow! It looks awesome in black ... that center cap makes the whole wheel very menacing 👍

Looks great. I see you had the same issues I did getting these rims in the states with mbusa and dealer parts dept. Special order, no refund, etc. I am getting mine put on Monday finally. Can’t thank booblehead enough for parts numbers and also had to print out AMG after sales portal info as well to get parts dept guys to order the items, since they go by whatever computer tells them.

For whatever reason my rear rims were held up by mbusa until I complained to my parts dept then they got released after a call to Atlanta. Yesterday when I went to see rims, I was told apparently mbusa didn’t want to release them since they haven’t approved them in the states yet, if that’s even the real issue.

question for those who already have put on their winters, for Canada in particular.

Did you have to reprogram the tpms on your swap over ? I had a conversation with my SA today about the delivery of my car late next week and requesting he put on the winter factory package on (take out the summer factory set) and he was telling me it is not a simple swap, the swap involves having all 4 tpms on the winter to be reprogrammed so the computer will recognize them. I told him it is not necessary or required at all.

Can someone confirm, even if you are in the US ? Thanks

My winter wheels from tire rack w tpms synced up automatically and I swapped the wheels myself and didn’t have to press any buttons...

thanks for the quick feedback. It proves my SA knows nothing about the car. OMG.

My SA was thinking of charging me like $300+ Cdn for this swap. I said that is totally ridiculous and told him to check with Service first and confirm his finding to me on Tuesday.

I only know of Honda and Toyota need to be reprogrammed for the changeover. My Porsche Macan surely does not require any reprogramming at all, it is all automatic detection (as long the tpms is there)

FYI - You simply need to put the new wheels on and restart the TPMS system. Keep in mind, some MB vehicles have TPMS sensors in the wheels for Canada and others do not. The other method uses the ABS and wheel rotating circumference to determine if one is lower than another tire on the vehicle.

Who is your dealer? I have an E63s wagon on the boat right now. I bought through MB of Denver.

Which boat? My car is on the Integrity which is scheduled to arrive Dec 22 in Baltimore.

It isn't close enough to land at the moment to receive AIS updates, but when it gets closer it can be tracked here: https://www.vesselfinder.com/?imo=8919934

265/30 and 295/40

For $1200 I can run these all year around on OEM wheels, good for snow, wet and dry

Save the stock tires for just summer or occasional track but I think these will stay on all year around they have a UTQG-560 rating should last a while.
Did you ever end up running this combo? When I went to order tirerack was concerned about it and the AWD

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 is a great tyre.
I've been using these on my E500 4Matic for the past 5 years (need to change to new ones after 2 seasons)

Those are excellent tires. Like marshmallows for the first couple thousand miles but incredible snow/ice grip. I had them on an E90 M3 and they lasted five seasons (rotated each season) even with a lot of dry roads.

I am looking forward to trying the Hakkapelitta tires. Always hear great reviews of these for winter tires. I have always had Blizzaks or the Pirelli Scorpion winter tires. Tires and rims are waiting for my car to arrive in January.
