Black Series Wagon
So anyone know if the rumors and videos I see all over the web are true? flared out wagon is new Black Series ?

I thought I read MB AMG Head says AMG does not have time to work on any Black Series cars right now or in the near future as they are already at full capacity working on other upcoming AMG cars.
If this is really a Black Series car, then I would love to see one (in production form) and may be we will see this in about 2 yrs time ? or facelift E class ? |
If you look back at the history of AMG and their Black Series, you will realize that a Black Series are always coupes, typically a 2 seater, and never ever a sedan or wagon. So that rumor is as false as false teeth.

^ If there is a buck to be made, I am sure MB will do a Black Series on anything, if they have the resources and production capacity. After all, MB is not like Porsche which the latter will not name a car GT if there is no history of racing heritage.
Just look at all the AMG E/C/GLC/GLE43 ... etc being pumped out. |
I can see this being an E63 R.

I wish....

Article was from last summer....anxious to see what the new kombi lineup will be, other than the Edition 1, E63 and E63S configurations. :zoom:

Anyone hear any other info if they are building the "R" wagon?
|
If it does come, it will likely be at midlife cycle. Other than that, nobody knows as they never made one before. :nix:

Seriously. I'm torn. I have been in discussions with a fine auto enthusiast, and fellow member here about him buying my car. So can I wait for the MY19 in hopes of R model, or go for one of the few open build slots for a MY18? |
I would think the midlife refresh will be about 2+ yrs away, meaning 2020 as MY2021 as the earliest.
If you are going after more power for the R, I would imagine 10% bump at most (with probably some minor components tweaked to justify being classified as R), you can consider doing an aftermarket tune if you get an ordinary S now.

I have my 14' that I am thinking about trading in but really want an "R". If it was going to be the next 6 months or so I would be happy to wait.
