E63S Launch Delay Concerns

E63S Launch Delay Concerns
The edition 1s have been sitting in port since April. This means they have been sitting for 4 months now. Somebody mentioned their concern by saying "I'm worried about the tires flat spotting and the breaks rusting". Is this anything anybody else has concerns with? Will these things even smell new? Are they wrapped, seats bagged, etc or Just in a indoor facility somewhere potentially with windows open. Anybody have any concerns?

It's very likely they will have sat in open environment (rain and shine) totally uncared for. Besides tires and brakes, I would be concerned of the leather inside as well of cracking and aging from the summer temp and sunlight. Gas would also likely have gone bad too after 3+ months, the worst fear is possible damage to the engine. Lastly, battery may have issues too of keeping charged.
if I were the owner of one these cars, I would likely cancel my order, after all, they are $100,000+ car you are to spend and I want no signs of premature wear on it

There not one E63 that has been sitting at port of as long as you say...
I work for a dealer and have been tracking my E63 orders.. sounds little crazy to say 4 months when production for NA has not been that long.

Yeah you clearly haven't looked up the right information. Every Edition 1 was produced in February and March and arrived in the US in April. There isn't a single one that HASNT sat for 4 months.

For some reason dealers are completely unaware of Edition 1's. They think that means the first batch to arrive or something. Look at the manifest for the edition 1 allocated to your dealership and you'll see what I'm talking about including the exact ship it came in on. So now that you know it's been sitting for 4 months do you have a reply back to the original question?

Hopefully this is a one time model specific homologation issue and not an ongoing delay each time a new shipment hits the port. That is, once the first batch is cleared, that all new shipments roll through without delay.
I'm set to pick up my car in Germany in October, and once I drop it off for shipment to the States, it probably will take until Dec, Jan for the car to get to me in Cali with no delays.

I have gotten a previous Euro delivery in 6 weeks from the time I dropped it at port. It was a long 6 weeks. I also HATED that I was in Germany able to drive at speeds I can't in So Cal and I had to baby it for break in purposes.

If you told me my car was sitting in an exposed environment for 3-4 months uncared for and unmaintained, I wouldn't want it either. That's why I'm waiting until this mess is fixed.
Apparently now deliver expectations are set towards end of Q3. So what's that, late August/early September?

That being said, others, including your opinion, obviously differ. My $0.02.

I'm not worried about the car sitting. MB Canada owns them while at port & dealers will pass any costs back to them on PDI. Bad fuel is a concern & I may ask to see if codes were thrown on delivery.
I read on the PL that the issue is related to the software with the start/stop system, or cylinder deactivation & that presumably reprogramming & testing is needed to pass. Let's hope they get it this time. I do maintain that this should have been worked out months ago, & those of us that have been waiting should be bringing this up on delivery.

I disagree as cars are not as fragile as newborn babies and can sustain rests by themselves in a normal outdoor environment such as a port. I would have no reservation purchasing a car that has sat at port for 4 months. Of course if I was promised earlier delivery, I would be upset, not for the car sitting outside, but for the passage of time.

What do you assume bringing this up at delivery would accomplish? At that point the dealer would own the car and not be able to pass back or discount anything. Correct?

I don't think it will take that long. My dealer had their first allocation get delivered before the "stop sell" order came thru from MB Canada and they are PDI'ing it now in anticipation of the hold coming off soon from transport Canada. My car, second allocation, is still in Halifax sadly. But I am told that the cars have passed with the latest software update and they are just waiting for the paperwork to come thru so they can be released and sold to customers. I was told these aren't rumours and I should expect my car end of august & we have a long train ride out to Alberta.

I ordered a E63s Edition 1 early in July with a deposit, build date around end of November - beginning of December, delivery in January, for anyone that is ordering this late in the game and wants an expected time, although Oceania versions may be placed on back order or something, not sure.

I assume all edition 1s were built earlier this year but your saying you special ordered an edition 1 that hadn't been built yet? Are you outside the US or did you just order e63s?

I ordered an ED1 from the factory yes, there is only one ED1 in the country (NZ) afaik, had the chance to drive it a few weeks ago, it's a dealer demonstrator and not up for sale for some time, so 6 months wait.
