I could care less what they call the model.
Unless your primary goal is to minimize the financial impact of buying a high end toy car (then you are limited to Porsche GT cars and Ferraris), the rest of us will buy the car that we like at that moment in time.
Car peeps will easily recognize the real deal. The rest of the crowd can't even see the difference between an AMG and a base car.

E63 S Wagon
The slight exclusivity of having an AMG is now gone. And like many said the dilution of the brand is a sad effort to make money. All these models including the new M models from BMW don't make me feel like they used too.

I am buying the 2018 E63s wagon fully knowing that there will be a massive depreciation hit, but I don't care. I plan to own the car for at least the next decade, hopefully longer. I don't look at cars as an investment. I want something fast that I can also fit the kids in...no better option for us in the US.
