Is the E43 old people friendly?

My parents are coming from a 2003 E500. they test drove the E300 and my dad said "It sounds a bit better than a 4 cylinder eclipse". He's AARP...so props for being funny.

In any case, he can't find an E43 to actually drive anywhere and he's in houston so rare-ish cars seem to be flying off the lots. Before he ponies up the money for a new one, he has two main concerns:

1) Will the seats be comfy for a 220 lb guy? He sat in my w212 E63 and didn't complain, so as long as they are more like that and less like a GT3 he should be good.

2) Is this "old lady approved" noise levels? Stock W212 E63's would probably not be pleasant for my Mom, so the question is the E43's exhaust note from the inside (when not being synthesized by the stereo)...is it loud when cruising, accelerating, etc. I tried to find one up by me, but also...nada.

It's funny, my parents want the speed but strongly dislike the noise. They're like the ideal lexus people, but want a merc.

Yes he will be happy on both fronts. Seats are more comfy than W212. Sound is not loud and exhaust can be switched into quiet mode too. No drone at all. Very Lexus like.

I can't speak for anything except the seats. The ones in the brand new regular E I drove for a day and a half blew the seats in my W212 E63 away. They may look similar but the comfort and dynamic features weren't even close.

Just turned in a 2018 loaner E300 and I agree with this assessment.
The seats keeps you INSIDE the seat when cornering. I feel like my W212 tries to tip me out in turns

19 E63s(wifeys) & a 21 GLE580
We test drove 3 different E43s (but ended up buying something else) when we were looking for a new car. We really wanted to stay with MB.. I do remember the noise to be low but almost like a gnat buzzing and not an AMG sound. It was a turn off for us to be so low on an AMG car. So for someone who does want the sound, it might not be bad. The seats were a lot more comfortable than the '14 E class we were going to replace but my wife who is about 5'3" complained that her head hit right in between the seat and head rest and was uncomfortable. So if either person is shorter, it might be bother some. We also noticed a lot of noise coming from the rear of the car which our current E nor GLE classes do.
So before you ask, we thought it was a great car with overwhelming technology. The inside is very nice and comfy, but we just went with something else because in that price range we wanted a little more performance and easier to use technology.
Good luck!

Aren't they also going to offer the E400 sedan in 2018? This might be a car for your parents
