Issues with diff and rear suspension

on the way to dealer but hearing loud clunking from the rear suspension. Like something isn’t attached.

Ive been hearing a little click from the rear of the car upon accelerating from a stop. Thought it was a quirk of the car however this morning the car started making crazy rear clunking noises from the rear end over bumps, uneven pavement and on power.
took the foreman of the dealer out for a drive and 2 blocks in we turned back. Looks like broken or not properly bolted rear suspension and something wrong with the diff. Gonna open her up today and see what’s really wrong with a car with 400 miles on it!

Maybe the carrier in the rear axle is damaged.

I will def have them check that! That’s what I get for obeying the break in procedure on the car. Exactly what I didn’t want to happen!

This is probably a long shot but you guys confirmed the shipping blocks were removed during PDI, right? On most cars the ride would be so awful that it would be impossible to miss but I've seen a surprising number of sporty car owners not initially notice because the ride is already pretty firm/stiff to begin with. It's usually a plastic tube that goes around the shocks to prevent the car from bouncing up and down during transport. If left in, it will usually crack/break and get crushed over time. A lot of times they are a bright color like orange but sometimes they are black and can easily look like part of the suspension.

If you did obey the break in Procedure less likely to be the rear end carrier unless the dealer beat the snot out of the car test driving it. It's cars that get beat on bad during rear end break in
that may have issues. Maybe it's a loose link in the rear end, hopefully something simple, heck could even be a loose wheel or something dumb like that. You got me nervous now because I just
got my car and only 300 miles on it and heading off tomorrow for a 1400 mile jaunt down to florida, well I guess if it were something like that with my car it woulda showed up by now.

Driving home tonight saw my first 2018 E63s on route 80 in Parsippany NJ. Black with standard red calipers. Unfortunately it was broken down on the side of the road accompanied by an emergency vehicle. I might wait a bit before ordering mine. Im sure MB will work out any early build issues.

I had them Check the wheel bolts when I pulled it in to the service as this happened to me on my new E46 M3. It went though PPI and nobody bothered to make sure the bolts were tight. Drove it new from LA to SF and halfway there the back wheel came off in the middle of no where. Car has 80 miles on it...

Wow, thats just crazy. I hope the guy who did the PPI got fired, they should always check wheel bolts.

He did get fired and so did the guy who left the keys in the car in the service lot after they fixed the car. Needless to say the car was stolen from their lot. Didn’t have great luck in the first 200 miles of that E46 M3!

Wow, that car was Jinx'd Hope you have much better luck with the E63 and they can get your issue squared away real quickly.

So I dropped of my car at my dealer Thursday morning with obviously no appointment and the foreman saying it wasn’t safe to drive and the service department STILL hasn’t even looked at the car!
Granted I didn’t purchase this car at that dealership but why would it take so long to see what’s wrong with a brand new car? I don’t care how busy the AMG techs are but this should be a priority. I bought my 2 SLRs and many other amg cars from them. Very frustrated.

Brand new E63 with 400 miles on it declared unsafe to drive? Pretty sure that makes it a pretty big priority.

no doubt you want your car back but I’m sure there are other people with service problems ahead of yours ... it certainly would be wise for the dealer to get it fixed but they have the master tech working on many cars I imagine.

its unsafe to drive — good thing it’s at the dealer and you’re not driving it.

Good luck

Sylvain, BH doesnt have a huge service facility do they? I think its a matter of traffic here. Too bad you didnt come down south to Laguna or Fletcher as they have a large amount of bays.

Either way, raise hell and let us know what transpires.

Ok so they finally fixed my car. Apparently the dealer I purchased the car from ( not where I got the repairs done) did not do a very good PDI or PPI and did not check the rear suspension. Apparently it was not torqued properly and never tightened by the dealer before delivery. That caused the noises and the clicks under load.

Glad it was not more serious but pissed at MB and my dealer for this poor QC.

Electronic issues with me

I am having all electronic issues with mine. So far I have seen the following:

1) The wiper will only come on when the car is in motion. As soon as the car stops the wiper will also stop, even if it is mid motion. I discovered this at the worst time as I was driving home this past Sunday in NJ during torrential rain. Stopped at a stop light and couldn't see the traffic light as my wipers were not working. Fun!
2) Active blond spot assist, active brake assist with cross traffic function, active lane change assist, active lane keep assist, active steering assist, active speed limit assist, and DISTRONIC all inoperable randomly. This has happened to me twice while driving. I get a bunch of error message on my main cluster LCD and pretty much ALL safety features of the car shuts down. I took it to the dealer on Saturday and I was told that the experienced technician was not working that day and that I should make an appointment to come in. They did plug my car into the diagnose computer and did tell me there were whole bunch of errors. None of the errors or logs were cleared so that the trained technician can diagnose it properly.

I have an appointment for this Friday to have them look at it. Hopefully just need a software refresh. Will keep you updated.

So after driving an E300 loaner for a week and getting back into the E63s it hit me how amazing of a car this is. The comfort, the power, the looks and how mean its face is. Its crazy that today something like this can be driven everyday to meetings without being noticed.

It is just an terrific car.

Bad luck. Better inform the transportation company about the broken car and wait for the company's feedback. Take this as an example and from next time hire a good transportation company.
