So it was time to put the beast through one of my favorite roads..
Lowering was what this monster needed, it took out the body roll and the Castrol SRF fluid was what it needed to inspire confidence carry some speed on the down hill sections.
I left all the driver aids on due to dirt on the road...
Yeah it's cool..

That sick but is it street legal ???
By the way the bedding at the factory on Carbon brakes is for the street . High speed canyons or track driving is a whole additional bedding procedure . It was the same deal with my Viper ACR brakes

I don't do canyon runs in groups, too many egos and red mist to deal with where so much could go wrong bigly but thanks for the offer.
I leave my ego at the bottom of the hill and just cruise in my comfort zone. Now to find out where that is in this beast..

Thanks, the extra weight is over the rear axle so I'd say it is even better than the sedan for traction.
Ya just gotta remember how long the wheelbase is coming around the really tight corners. It does not feel heavy or large, in fact it feels about the same as my old 991 Turbo S in the corners with it's all wheel steering.
Mercedes has out done the Audi Quattro...You can toss this sucker around in the twisties and smile.

Does anyone know of splash guards [mudflaps] for the AMG wagon ?
I was at the dealership today and they said Mercedes does not offer any for the 2018 AMG wagon.

Beautiful! I think I remember you now. Didn't you used to be on R8talk, and have those really cool Lotuses?

I started out in Sport+ and then switched to Race with all the driver aides on, I did see the traction control warning come on a few times due to wheel spin on the dirty road surface or was it just power ?

Thanks, I'm glad to hear they like there work being tested.

I wasn’t thinking so much of speed runs so much as a tour of new roads for me and just getting to meet some other E63 owners. I’ll probably be doing some longer trips to check out more of the winding roads further afield in the car versus just hitting the nearby mountain as I did on the bike.

I forgot to mention after having BenzWorks lower the car I was able to see another degree of negative camber front and rear 2.5 front 2.3 rear. The lower center of gravity and added negative camber is what this car needs in the twisties.
Sure there will be a bit more trie wear but that's what they are supposed to do if ya wanna have fun. This is the same spec I have in my Allroad..

Interesting video. Reminds me of our time living in Switzerland
I was wondering about the display on the comand screen. I haven’t that on our car. Looks like a mix of engine and vehicle data.

Rudi Uhlenhaut, the famous Mercedes-Benz race engineer and development driver of the Fifties and Sixties, was a shuffler. Rally drivers tend to shuffle because they frequently turn the wheel more than one hundred and eighty degrees in a corner. And the famous Evolution School teaches its autocrossing students a variation of shuffle-steering in which the driver makes oneposition change before the corner and maintains constant position through that corner.
I've owned group B rally cars and drove them all with this technique safely in the canyons but you are welcome to follow me in the canyons with your hands taped to the wheel at 9-3 if you can..

I use both the shuffle and the 9 & 3. Kind of depends on what I’m driving and where.
Used to do 10 & 2 as taught years ago, but at the Audi school they had us change to 9 & 3 as you get more wheel movement before your wrists cross. Looking forward to the AMG school.
It’s been years since I used to do a lot of driving on snow and ice, and I’ve since wondered about using the shuffle method when you’re getting fast rear end movement and needing to go quickly to nearly full lock and back and not lose track of center. Just need practice I suppose
Hearing that rally drivers use the shuffle is a pretty good endorsement . Wonder what method drift car drivers prefer?
