Playing Video from iPhone to Screen in car?
Does anyone know of any aftermarket maker or anyway to play video on these E63 Screens, Occasionally with other cars if I was waiting for someone to pick up at the airport or killing time I'd put a DVD into the player and watch a movie, this is not a option with these cars as they have eliminated the in dash CD/DVD players now. Are there any options of mirroring an iPhone Screen and playing Video Via the lightening connector? Would be nice, this would also allow me to watch TV as I have Comcast and get all those channels through my phone via the Xfinity app. Is there a way of using the airplay feature via bluetooth without the lightening connector, this would be even better. The only issue with this is the comcast app does not allow for airplay mirroring due to inception software, cannot mirror my iPhone to the apple tv device.

I thought the Apple Car Play or whatever it is called would let you do that. On my car the USB jack in the cubby up near the cup holders / ash tray insert was the one that lit up with the Apple stuff when I plugged in the phone there.

I was too busy driving most of the time to monkey with it, but in the short time scrolling menu that popped up, it looked like playing videos might have been an option.

I'll have to go out and check closely in the apple car play app right now, I don't recall seeing anything in it about videos, could be wrong. I tried listening to some music though it but have not used it much as it seems the music lost some of it's sound quality via the apple car play so I've just been mainly listening to music via the internet radio. Anybody else have any experience playing videos though the 213 command? Just checked through apple car play and nothing to do with videos, all just audio stuff including podcasts.

Anyone know if something like this will work in this car if I put this into the USB port inside the glove box and play music videos? It would be good if this worked. I think there are 3 video RCA inputs under the center console, if there were some sort of lightening to rca adapter that might work?

As for casting, I would assume that the US based head units will not allow this as they have not allowed video play up front in the past. Perhaps the Euro head units allow this, however, as they have allowed such play in the past?

Apple CarPlay is designed not to allow any video for the same legal reasons as onboard systems not allowing video in motion.
I believe Android Car is the same way.

For now until I figure out how to output video into the command I'll just watch video through my iPhone 6 perched on the dash and connected through media to command for the audio. I only use Video when stopped so I'm not really looking for a Vim, just a way to play video files when stopped.

Then all you need is a Lightning to HDMI cable which there are plenty of...

Thanks, something like that might be the answer. I spend a lot of time in my car and would love to utilize that big beautiful screen rather than just watching my iPhone 6 plus.
