A simple tune pulls this?? WOW and this is just a basic street test not some prepped track..... who knows what this car would do in optimal conditions:

So they are claiming that the stock engine makes 685 hp and that they are bring in up to 773HP?? That is insane under rated numbers by MB and crazy number a from just a tune by Renntech. Would love to see what Ronin gets from the OE tune.

RENNtech quotes crank adjustment numbers I think.... so take the 773hp and adjust down to whp based on drivetrain loss.

Edit: and remember that since their numbers start higher, the key will be gains over what they started with. Further, for me, the best gains will be in the usable rpm ranges of driving vs just the peak peak rpms that none of us sit at on a constant basis.

Weistec has theirs up already as well, and claiming the fastes E63S, 10.849 1/4 of a mile, their ECU upgrade is only $2,950


who is going to give us the best deal on their ECU tune?

Good ET but the trap was down, probably due to the DA where it was run but Im only speculating.

We'll see tomorrow and I'll try not to be sad when the real numbers show their stinking head..
The shop I'm going to is claiming a 20% drivetrain loss for rear and AWD cars, that seems a little high to me. I wish I did a before pull for a base line.
I think it's funny that there are no real dyno sheets from any of these tuners..

I'll get it on video as I always do with my tuning, much like this low boost tune on my Rs211..

The shop should be able to put it in dyno mode which will disco the fwd (again assuming) but if not AWD will have more loss. I really dont care as long as the street shows the real numbers. What shop are you using and what dyno?

Sounds good, just so you know OE has tuned 10 of my 11 AMG's and ive dyno'd all of them with amazing numbers. I look forward to the results.

I have updated the classcebenz site with this info and I should have a wiestec tune shortly to review I am looking forward to getting the tunes in and seeing what real world numbers we get out of them.

Didn’t Renntech run (claim to run) a 10.6 with their initial tune on the W212? And all the tuners speculated how much potential there would be and got people to jump in the mod game with both feet! Then a year later when real world customers started hitting the track stage 2 cars could barely run better than low 11s and full turbos cars barely broke mid 10s. I think Renntech even tried to explain it away by saying they no longer offered their magical early tune. I hope we’re not getting lied to again!

If this holds up on a customer's car, I'm in. Not sure what this does to the warranty. I assume it voids it. Might be something I do in a couple of years, then.

These tunes look insane... that Weistec car had considerable front-end lift. Gotta assume you kiss your warranty bye-bye with one of these.

Once my car is broken in (or at least have access to race start), I'll run the quarter mile stock. Will then tune, likely Weistec, and then run again. Going to stop at stage 1 on this car, as these perf numbers are more than enough for a 'daily'.

Good points, at least in this case we know that the oem car is generally putting up better numbers from the factory than the W212 did thru so many videos, tests, magazine reports, etc so maybe the results are straight up. Granted here, we dont know the slope of the road or the conditions- we will just have to wait and see. Im slated to dyno my car pre and post tune next week. Ill post up after.

Or conditions, Weistec was on a track with DA unknown... RENN's was on a street and we have no clue about the conditions. But yes 91 vs 93 is a difference.

Nope max octane is 91, the one thing that bugs me here... you can get race gas in certain locations though but its cost prohibitive for a daily driver sedan IMHO.

Ive seen gains of 20-30 whp on turbo engines with 93 octane vs 91 (in the RS world for example) and this is whp.

Youre right, the starting point is much better on the W213 so I honestly don’t see why high 10s would be out of reach for a tune...but there is a past we have to consider.

The more time I spend at the track and more data I accumulate, the more I realize that the biggest proble with the W212 is not the launch. It’s the power that gets pulled during shifts. It defeats the purpose for AMG to brag about their MCT millisecond shift times if they have to pull power during the shift to avoid problems. BMW (and Audi) got it right by recognizing the ZF8 tq converter auto was the right transmission for the job.

We were also surprised how strong the car came from the factory. We measured 595whp and 598wtq stock and can also confirm that dyno mode puts the car in rwd. We used our 2-wheel dyno, not the 4-wheel dyno. That's why we went with 14% as a drivetrain loss, same as the previous RWD E63 generation.
As mentioned before, those are just calculated numbers for reference to power numbers published by MBUSA. Important are the wheel power and the gains achieved at the wheel.

Our wheel results are 665whp and 670wtq, which are gains of +70whp and +72wtq.
We'll try and go to the track (PBIR) this week. Currently the car is on the lift to finalize the downpipe development.

hahaha I was just thinking right before I read your post. They specifically told me that they no longer offered the tune that put the car in 10s. Then turned off my CEL for and additional $900 for off road downpipes (no change to the tune whatsoever I later came to find out)

Well I tried to get some dyno numbers but the car didn't like the dyno dynamics dyno and threw a fault code. No matter what configuration the car was in.

So who's up next ?
