Wagons and PPF

Has anybody applied full PPF to their wagon, xpel stealth specifically but interested in hearing all accounts? I've had 2 quotes so far and both more than what I paid for my f-pace. For full coverage I have been quoted 7k and almost 10k. 7 seems high, 10 is a non starter. I'm in New Jersey if there are any trusted vendors

Thanks

In Canada, I got quoted for full wagon Xpel Ultimate for $5500 Cdn + taxes. Convert to US $, that is about $4,300 + any applicable taxes in your State. The job will require about 2.5 days and 1 day to cure (on the safe side so the shop can double check their work before releasing the car back to customer).

For what you have been quoted, it is obviously overcharged by nearly 100%.

In my case, I did just the full front + headlights + tail lights. $1,550 Cdn + taxes. convert to US $, that is $1,200 + taxes.

Thanks. I figured I was getting the close to New York tax. I will reach out to the last two links and see how it goes, if not maybe a short vacation in Canada!

btw, Lee Berbs have been highly raved by the Rennlist Porsche forum guys there for doing excellent job with reasonable prices. Just letting you know. (If he is not too far away for you to go)

I live in Toronto. Which shop did you do?

AP shield (Markham). Denison / Woodbine area. There are many other shops do this kind of thing. Pretty well they all quoted about the same price (+/- $200 or so for doing the entire front end ; +/- $500 or so for doing for the entire car).

@nynd and I went in for a group buy discount. Thus saving about 13% HST (you still get an invoice and warranty and payment by credit card if you choose to).

If you need further assistance in finding a shop in your local area, just PM me or make another thread to start up the discussion.

I just did the front end and the rear bumper on my car with 3m and seems good, only $800.00 at the dealer when the car was new. I felt thats all I really needed. Worked out well.

XPEL Stealth requires a lot of prep work and a very careful and detail-oriented install. I did my homework and found the going price for a reputable installer is about $6,500 for my C63 coupe. So $7,000 for an E wagon sounds about right to me. It certainly gave me pause. $6,500 is nearly 8% of my car's MSRP. So it's a tough question you have to ask yourself if it's really worth that kind of outlay.

Here are some photos of our E63S Wagon fully wrapped by Colorado Detail in Denver. This is the 2nd Mercedes they've wrapped for us. They used LLumar Platinum PPF and then coated everything in Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra for ease of cleaning and even more stain resistance. The clear PPF and ceramic coating was $7500. The quality and attention to detail of the installer is significantly more important by a long shot than the material. From more than a foot away it is very hard to even tell the car is fully wrapped. A wagon has some huge pieces of material - note the installation photos of the SINGLE piece from the A pillar all the way to the back. The door handles were removed so no seams on the doors. Even with the night package there is still a fair amount of chrome so Colorado Detail also blacked out the door handles and the stripe and star on the back with satin vinyl. Also had them dull the gloss black elements around the skirt with matte ppf. The rims are the Mercedes OEM 19" described in the Winter Setup thread powder coated 20% gloss black.

Wow, looks good. I just cannot see spending that kind of money myself. The pre cut 3 M Pro works great for me. For a DIY job you can get it on Amazon. A lot of people think the 3M is bad because the older Ventureshield was older technology and nothing like the new "Pro". I'm very happy with mine, no orange peel and the paint still looks just as bright as the original and it does seem to have some self healing properties like the Expel.

Looks great too. I’ll have to look into that myself.
