C&D Review

For your reading pleasure.

Very complimentary. C&D always seems to run cars faster than any other mags... 3 seconds to 60 here

wondering if the test car had acoustic comfort package. Also surprised by infotainment system slow response time.

Didn't sound like it when they listed the options they'd chosen. But then again, that might have been a here's what we'd choose, not here's the options on the car as tested.

As I recall, the photos showed CCBs, but they didn't list CCBs on their option list.

Infotainment is slower than molasses, at least the earlier builds...

I wonder if this car they had was an earlier build when I saw what they said. My car built mid September seems like the infotainment response speed is plenty fast enough, very rarely when I have my iPhone plugged into it will not play sound and I have to unplug it and replug it in. My S550 does not seem to do this so I think it's my AMG command system at fault but does not happen much.

All good news though in this article, thanks for posting, this should help keep our resale values up and keep the the new AMGs a sought after car. I'm sure after reading this article a lot more people that have 212's are gonna want to get a new one.

I was surprised that the infotainment is so slow, especially CarPlay. Our 2017 SL is instant on CarPlay and great on Bluetooth. Sometimes I want to mute and the mute isn't working or so it seems. In reality in takes several seconds to think about it But again, who cares; minor stuff when the rest of the car is so solid.

Lows: "Uncomfortable optional performance seats"

Uh oh... I've asked the question before: are the performance seats uncomfortable? My build date isn't until first week of March, so I have a little time to find some E-class sport seats to get my posterior into... from my earlier thread folks were generally favorable on the performance seats' comfort.

Its terrible-- by the time I want to skip a song, its already over- but the satellite radio switches on demand. Now there are times when the IPOD advancement is fast; when I first turn on the car.

Is so subjective and clearly they were driving the crap out of their car the test. I dont really know how to quantify it but to just speak to personal thoughts. I am NOT of the Buffet Style Structured Body so I have less cushion for pushing LOL and yet the Perf Seats are just fine with me but the longest drive Ive done is 90 min in stop and go traffic. I think they might also be applying some of the damper settings (feel) towards the seats because the car is super taut in sport plus and any seat will feel that rigidity. If you dont care about looks of the seat, Id get the Sport Seats. I got an ED1 so Im stuck with the Perf Seats but I dont mind them at all. I think in your case, its better safe than sorry to get the Sport ones and be more comfortable.

I found the performance seats uncomfortable. They did not fit my shoulders well. See if your dealer has a GT with performance seats that you can go sit in, I'm glad I did before ordering.
