I had a dealer in Chicago tell me that March 9th was the date he was told that orders would be available. Can anyone confirm that?

Word is orders are in the system, but no allocations as of yet for 2019. Sorry for the false alarm - I'm sure I was told March 9th by the dealer, but likely to get me to drop my deposit.

In reading the first post here, I would bet that the E350 will replace the E300. It will be the new I4 mild-hybrid setup with 299hp (Europe) and the of course the E400 will become the E450 with the 362hp I6 just like the CLS450. This is great if this happens. The E-Class will be complete, and while the V6 was a good engine, the I6 is superior in nearly every way. E43 will become E53. This is a lot to happen for one model year.

the E450 is a V6, not the inline 6 w/48v hybrid assist....

I placed an order for a 2018 E63 AMG S on Feb 12th/2018. Just got word from my SA - I will be getting a 2019 car, but their first MY19 allocation has a block on the AMG Driver's Package. He said we are going to take the next one. Expected delivery for first MY19 allocation is August. This is going to be a long wait.

And is first MY19 delivery in August with the Driver's pack or without? Meaning that first allocation WITH Driver's pack is even later than August for delivery?

Correct - the first MY19 delivery will be in July/August and will come without the driver's pack.
Correct - the next allocation will be with Driver's pack, and the delivery for that will be after the first allocation's delivery - either later August, or more likely, September / October - pending no other delays.

I apologize for the newbie questions. I'm new to the MB ordering world and the information from dealers and the web is light on this topic. This forum is a lifesaver.
Once you put down a deposit on a MY19 and the dealer indicates your order is "in the system" (similar to X166 above), how do you verify that once allocations open up, you get one (or the dealer gets one for you)? How do verify your "place in line" and projected build date?
I believe the VIN isn't issued until later in the process. Do you get a PO number in the interim? Is there a way to independently confirm it is associated with your order?
I'm trying to avoid lip service from dealers that indicate I have a car on order, only to learn later that they can't get it immediately and I'm in the second or third build rotation with a delivery date that is not acceptable given prior verbal commitments. Plenty of dealers in Chicago and everyone talks a big game.
I've ordered Porsches and Audis in the past, but always got an allocation held by the dealer that I could customize. 90 days later the cars showed up.
Thanks

I previously ordered a BMW M4; worked same way as you're describing. Order was placed end of January. I took delivery of the car end of March. No delays; I was able to track it through my sales associate, and independently online using various websites.
Mercedes Benz works a bit different; there aren't many tools to track the build process. You will have to work closely with a trusted SA. The other issue is this particular car. If you're following the forums it is easy to conclude there are some production issues with this particular model.
My recommendation would be to find a SA who you can trust, and who is open and honest. Nevertheless, there can always be issues that arise which have the potential to delay your car regardless of how you're tracking it.
Hope that helps.

I given a deposit on a 2019 E63S. SA really didn’t have too much info. beyond build guide. I’ve ordered a car from them previously and all went smooth. Currently driving a 16 C63S, so not in a super big hurry. But still anxious to receive the new car. I’m sure it will be a while. I think it will be worth the wait.
