Thanks for the information. Is there any black matte paint option for the E63S. I would really like to get the color I want rather than settling for another. I see the matte black options is available for the G63. Not sure I understand why they don't offer it on the E63S. any chance that may be a color option for 2019. I read they discontinued 2-3 of the existing colors?

I don't think they will do matte black anytime soon, lest to upset Edition 1 buyers and make it exclusive for some time.
You can do paint to sample, pricing is way high and wait times are a pain.. You can save the $720 on metallic paint, do regular 040 Black and wrap it with a matte clear wrap. Will make the car look matte and protect it well for resale and way easier to fix if you get a scratch.. just what I'd do

Give me a week or so to see if the gentleman that I dealt with when purchasing my wife's car can come through with anything concrete. If not I will PM you and see if we can work out a deal. I can drive down there to pick it up since I live in NY. Thanks for all the information you provide to the forum. It has been a tremendous help.

Hopefully they've worked out the kinks and part shortages. My first week Jan. build 2018 didn't get built until last week.

I was told by my rep that all the e63s regardless of build date will not be released until August. Just wanted to see if anyone has heard the same thing. My build was mid Jun with August delivery. Not sure why they are doing this?

Probably to make sure I get my May build 2018 before anyone gets their 2019's!

Because they are 3 months behind on current orders and the supply of parts that are holding up builds (not just E63s but E400s with dual screens) is still spotty. It doesn't help that the new G-Class, CLS, AMG GT 4-Door, etc. all use the same screens which are severely supply constrained. Also, there were so many issues with early 2018 E-Class builds that they implemented extended quality control checks which slowed things up even more. They even emailed this to dealers telling them to expect delays from November until MARCH...MARCH, it was so bad they were straight up telling dealers to expect delayed production for 5 months.
For reference, here's the STAR status page for my car from last week:
Originally scheduled for January, didn't get a VIN until Feb 14th, didn't get produced until April 9th.
So for anyone thinking of a 2019 build, just be ready for a 2-3 month delay from your "scheduled" production decade.

I wasn't told of any delays.. All our E63s and others seem. To be on time... They did restrain many 18 e classes from the 2nd lcd screen to hold them for 2019s..
I will look into this.. Thanks for the heads up

The E-class, S-Class and GT are all produced at the same factory in Stuttgart, so I'm guessing this is a very high-priority problem to resolve. Anyone who has done the factory tour can also attest to the fact that standards are very high there. 95% of the production is automated and they manage error so well that the length of the E-class frame will never be +/- more than the the thickness of a piece of paper. At the end of production they have a team of people that review each car for QC. It is very impressive.

Changes like the new steering wheel w.integrated Distronic controls (w. updated Steering assist software from S-Class) are scheduled for release in beginning of June. I hope that these changes can make it into these builds

Reason I am saying that is that we all have seen a fair amount of software and associated hardware changes within the earlier/later MY18 builds. None of which were model year dependent. So I wouldn't take this for granted...

When are the first '19 cars being built? Is the 3rd decade of June the first ones? Curious when we can start seeing '19's in the wild.

The new E53 AMG sedan and wagon have just been announced:

I wonder if and when the E53 sedan will become available in the US. Is it in the latest E-Class order guide for the US?

2017 AMG C63s sedan
I currently have a 2017 C63s sedan.
I am interested in ordering a 2019 E63s sedan. Dont know where to start though and if i order now when can i expect to have the car? I live in Indiana near Chicago Illinois.
I see there are some 2018s on cars.com but is it just better to order a new 2019 model? Since the 2018 is the first year of production does it mean that the 2019 will have less issues better quality and so forth?
What were the main issues with the 2018s if anyone knows?
