Edition 1 : Check Engine Light + Hiccuping Shifts

Hi Guys,

Went to California for 1 week with the family. Came back over the weekend, and hopped in the e63s. Car turns on fine, I pull out and notice the engine hiccuping, throttle not really responding well. Very strange. Look at my dash and sure enough the check engine light was on. Turned around and parked the car. Tried multiple times to see if anything will change if I turned the car on and off, drove in my drive way a bit...same engine/tranny weirdness. Im having it towed to the dealer tomorrow AM.

What should I direct them to do? (assuming they give me the ol' "everything looks good bs")

Side note: Just had 1st service done (after the rear diff change). Gas is full. Gas cap ok. I filled my Porsche Carrera GTS with same gas from same place and its running fine.

In review: Engine def vibrating more, seems like throttle not corresponding to how I press the pedal, and hiccuping shifts from 1-2-3. Check Engine Light On.

****.

Just let them do their thing, presumably this is a reputable service department. You don't need to do much more than get the car to them.

You have warranty on your car. Doesn’t matter what people here will write and suggest, dealer will do what they think is necessary to fix the problem. So asking for advice and some sort of “help” is useless.

if there's a CEL, they have everything they need in conjunction with your description of the symptoms.

Get her booked in...

I'd ask if they had updated any software. MB has been rolling out a lot of updates for the M177 recently.

Dealer can’t update software anymore without real need for it, eg you have to complain on engine, transmission that they are working bad in order for them to get updates

Well then, it sounds like he needs to complain to get these updates with the rolling code improvements they’ve been making over the past year.

Make sure you take it out on a test drive with the SA & mechanic that worked on it to make sure all is well before driving home...
