2018 E63S rear differential service question
So my AMG is arriving on Monday or Tuesday. Looking into the two year maintenance plan as I have a 3yr/30K lease. My AMG sales guy says the E63S does not require the break-in rear diff oil change. I have downloaded all the MB 2018 manuals and I see no mention of this service requirement. I did see a post from a member regarding a diff oil change, but it may have been for the W212 models (since the W213 manual looks different).
Can anyone confirm that this is indeed a requirement? And, if so, is the two year plan a good deal? It would not seem to be if I only get oil changes.
Could someone link or post the actual E63S service schedule?
Thanks!!

You need the AMG supplement, I don't believe that this is discussed in the base E model manual.
From the E63 supplement:
"Notes on the rear axle locking differential
The rear axle locking differential is only available for the Mercedes‑AMG E 63 4MATIC and Mercedes‑AMG E 63 S 4MATIC models.
Changing the oil at the rear axle prolongs the service life of the differential.
Have the oil change carried out at a qualified specialist workshop:
- After a breaking-in period of 2000 miles (3000 km).
- Every 30000 miles (50000 km) or three years."

My guy just called. He checked all of their AMGs and the W212 had the requirement. He says that the new E and S class AMGs do not specify the rear diff change. Is your supplement for the W213? No worries as I can always get the two year plan before the first service. I suppose I should if it turns out that MB is requiring the change. Sucks that there is no supplement available anywhere online! Even in my specific MB Me account wiith my VIN specified.
Thanks!!

Ask Any Mercedes dealership service and they will tell you that you need to replace the differential oil at 2000 miles. Also if you buy the prepaid maintenance this wil be included in it.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
The supplement is an addition to the service bulletin, not an additive to the diff. 2K mile service though is important. Break in is important and the car should not be abused with hard starts for at least the first 1.5 K miles or so to be safe. Then the next 500 miles go a little harder on the car to wear in the rear end gears so that the metal file shavings will be more mixed in the with the gear oil and then will be drained out when the 2K service is done. It's important the techs know that the drain plug is not the same as the 212's. Some had not seen a 213 when I brought my car in for this service and come to find out the old Oil needs to be drained out via the sensor probe near the bottom of the diff. Refill until full with the small bottles of Mercedes gear lube until full at the sight plug.

can someone put the cost to have the rear diff oil change on e63s? I am being quoted $600 from the dealer which is F***** ridiculous. I thought I saw prices between $140-185. Thanks for the help

I did not purchase the prepaid maintenance plan yet. Waiting till after the "A" service. The dealership called me back and said that it would be @$200. 1 hour of labor at $150 plus oil. Thanks for getting back to me

I paid $161.00. This is right out of my manual. Granted this is a GLC63S but it is the same rear end as the E
Your vehicle is equipped with a self-locking differential
on the rear axle.
Change the oil to improve protection of the rear
axle differential:
R after a breaking-in period of 1,850 miles
(3,000 km)
R every 31,000 miles (50,000 km) or 3 years
These oil changes prolong the service life of the
differential. Have the oil change carried out at a
qualified specialist workshop.

Inside upper driver's side of the windshield has a little sticker that says this exact same thing about the differential oil change ,.. 3000 Km or 1850 Mi. There was also a little sticker that had the break in recommendations in the same place.
