Got "check engine" light. No messages to explain any faults. Car seems to be running properly. Oil level is good. Any other place to check? or go to the dealer. |
Dealer, not normal. They can read the code or you could too if you have access to a can bus code reader, generally advance auto parts has them for use if you cant get to the dealer.
My wagon is currently in with the dealer for the same thing after 3K miles. They not sure what the problem is but looking to change spark plugs and coils. I'll post once I know more.
First thing I always check is for loose gas cap or bad gas cap seal.
Got my wagon back from the dealer and the service report found a misfire at cylinder 11 and 6 ?! Replaced coil and spark plugs. After 4K I'm not convinced.

I had the same thing 3 or 4 times. And when It was alight, for a short period of time, the driving modes are no longer accessible.I went to my dealer yesterday and my mechanic told me that there was a reprogramming bulletin because the computer could momentarily lose some reading from the differential and transmission, which cause this protection mode.
It was done on mine and everything seems ok. If it does not correct the problem, the source of trouble is then "pins" of a connector. The problem is reported and known by Mercedes and frequent on M177 engines. |
