Swapped my Pirelli P Zeros for Michelin PS4s today! Check this out
Two days old and 50 miles and here I am swapping my P Zeros for the PS4S. I will keep the P Zeros for lease end. I will likely have to put them on with about 6-8 months left on my lease. Figured the Michelins would be better for the majority of the time the car is here, Anyway, I got a good deal on the Michelins from a local tire shop that has done me right in the past. They took their time and all went well, except a little bit of extra effort getting the 295-30s back on the rear rims. So the odd thing is that the Michelin 295/30s are noticeably wider than then Pirelli. I did not look at the fronts for differences. I took pictures. It is not an optical illusion. This may be why the rears were a bit stubborn to mount. Here are the pics to prove it! Still babying the car, plus still raining here so no real comparisons. Just trusting that the Michelins are better.

Trust me, you made a good decision. Make sure that you store the Pirrelli's away from light and heat. Otherwise, they will be useless in three years. Also, the rear tires Are wider than the Pirrelli's. That also means that the sidewalks are a bit taller too to keep the same ratio.

Shouldn't a 295 be a 295?? The PS4S is pretty square, but that is so noticeable. I have some 305s I am mounting to my R8 so I thought I would compare, and those are noticeably wider than my current 305 tires as well. Here you can see the difference in squareness.

I pulled this from TireRack:
Pirelli OEM for 2018 E63S has a 10.1 tread width
Michelin PS4S OEM for 2018 E63S shows a wider tread width (disregard the Eco part- I confirmed its our OEM tire spec wise)

Hello,
Does anyone know if a wider Mercedes wheel like 10.5 or 11” will fit for the rears?
Then we can use the 305/30/20 version which is a closer match with the fronts in revs per mile (764).
The 305 requires a minimum 10.5 wheel.
I have a 2019 on order with a confirmed build date on June.
Cheers

Pirelli’s 305/30 will sit well on the rear. I have bought one used rear pair to burn them. I’m sure Michelin will stick out a bit, as on stock 295/30 they fit well while Pirelli’s are a bit narrow due to their tread width

does anyone have pics of the 295 pzeros vs 295 michelins mounted on car? the 295 pzeros definitely look too narrow with the rim poking out of them, wondering if going 295 michelin is enough to appease me vs going 305
the diameter difference at 305 is negligible and unlikely many of us are driving the car to the point where that change is going to make an impact on your sidewall feeling unless youre regularly on a track

(voice inside head begging for good news)
Can anyone share the relative noise levels and other tire characteristics vs the Pirelli's. I've never had a set of tires that I wanted off the car so bad.
I'd cut them up and burn them to assure nobody else had to endure them.

I replaced them with Standard tires (PS4S) and problem solved.

same feeling here, so much road noise and feels so extra stiff
what does everyone generally do for flat tire situations when swapping to non-runflats? the flat tire goop and just head to swap ASAP?

Given the rarity of the occurrence and the advancements in modern tire technology, I don't lose any sleep over it myself. Having AAA is a plus also.
I kinda see it like carrying 8 gallons of coolant in my trunk in case my radiator explodes one day, lol.

BTW, I'm not saying I'm right but it's the way I see it and I guess I may be a bit of a risk taker. :p
However, I do carry a tire plug kit and a 12v air compressor/tire inflator just in case something were to happen out in BFE.
This is my second Mercedes that I've ditched the run-flats with zero regrets. Standard tires have made both of mine much more enjoyable cars with better ride quality.

That's how every good-year tire I've ever had sounded even when they weren't run-flats.

My W205 came with run-flat PS3 A/S and I swapped them to Standard PS3 A/S and they were quieter and rode much better. At least in my experiences, run-flats are harder and louder.
