AMG e63s Wagon to the rescue..
I decided to drive the wagon up into the canyons this past Sunday instead of the GTS and I'm glad I did
Being in the right place at the wrong time can be a good thing sometimes...
Coming up to the carousel on ACH we saw a downed bike on the roadside and two other cars stopped that witnessed the accident only seconds before we got there.
Nick [my nephew] and I pulled into the turnout to see what we could do to help...
The 27 yr. old rider was thrown over the side after making contact with the guard rail, his helmet was somehow ripped off his head. He was conscious without any head injuries but did have a compound break in his lower right leg and a compound break in his upper right arm along with a cut artery... One of the other drivers was able to tie off the bleed with a tee shirt as I pulled the wagon around to bring him back down to Newcomb's Ranch and the LASD - Montrose Search and Rescue Team for help...We were able to get him back up the hill and into the car, I felt that getting him to them would be quicker than having him lose any more blood from the cut artery while waiting for help to arrive... I was amazed that he was still lucid and not screaming in pain from his injuries on the quick ride down the hill... Thanks to Nick and the two other good samaritans we got him to safety.... The Crest is not a personal ****in racetrack people, slow the **** down..

I was really pissed that so many bikes just rode past without stopping to see if they could offer assistance.
Thankfully it was car guys that saved this young guy's day and maybe his life.

Damn that's nuts . I would have been scared to move him thinking that he might have spinal injuries as well. Glad it worked out

I've had 4 spinal surgeries over the years and the thought of getting back on a bike is not in my mad mind ever..
I see and hear about downed bikers and wrecked cars every weekend in the canyons and the numbers have no sign of slowing down.
In this generation age of video games with reset buttons it is just gettin worse.
When ever I see a group of cars no matter Miata - Porsche they all treat the road as a personal racetrack, crossing the centerline to pick a apex that doesn't exist on public roads and that is the real danger.
Now I'm not saying drive slow, I'm just saying never ever cross the centerline. There is just too much to lose when the world is not just about you.

wise words, rode for 30 years, averaged 10k miles a year, mostly street, some track... after never having an accident, I decided to “leave them laughing” and to stick to 4 wheels ... I miss riding for sure, but, as you say, too much to lose...
