Came back from surfing today and found the package at my door containing the grill guards from Zunsport. They are really high quality and if you can replace wiper blades then these will be easy to do too. The package actually has a pine board on the outside to ensure that the box doesn't get bent. This is really a must do for our cars as those intercoolers are just too exposed. Anyway, it took me about 45 minutes as I was drinking a cool one and taking my time ( beer is so good after surfing). Oh yeah, my edition 1 wagon is great and the black grill guards look like factory spec pieces. Props to the gentleman who got this all started and to Zunsport for fabricating these items.

If I end up with the E63 should I bother waiting to see if the new 19 version comes with front grilles to protect or just order these in advance? How long approximately to ship to US?

You can wait. It only took 4 business days for me. I ordered on a Thursday and got it on a Monday.
2019's will have the grill screens MB started putting on with the late 2018 models. I'm gonna keep using my home made screens for now and will switch to the Zunsports at a later date.
Thanks for the much better pics E63Wagonesque. Although these guards won't keep everything out, including bugs which can be a major pain depending on where one lives, they certainly will help deflect things that could cause damage to the coolant tubes and should help keep the cooling fins from being bent too. So far I have not noticed any temperature differences with the guards on either. But to put it in perspective, I owned a mid '70s Jeep Cherokee with 5.5" of custom lift and I still managed to get a rock between the razor grill slats which punctured one of the radiator coolant tubes resulting in anti-freeze everywhere and me replacing the radiator.
Got mine in the mail too! Personally I think the front looks more complete with the mesh grille. Now to figure out what do do with my license plate and the front sensors

I just installed my Zunsport guards and I think they look great. The install was simple: I used masking tape to cover the areas where the clips might rub on the way in and I removed the front license plate bracket before doing the center guard.
That’s probably late April 2018 as the last batch.
Close, but my 2018, which is still stuck in the VPC, was built the second decade of May. Mine is probably the last 2018 in the U.S.! If I cared about a heated steering wheel, I probably would have waited.
