...And it's Gone
Personally, I want to say that the E63s was a fabulous car. I in no shape hated it whatsoever, but the amount of issues it caused were very annoying. Let me start from the beginning:
About 2 weeks of taking delivery of it back in January, the car began to give me a few issues. The first one was a check engine light. Just happened randomly and caused the car to shut down while at a light. Then shortly after, the suspension gave me an error code where it said that I couldn't drive faster then 50 mph. Every time I would make a turn, it almost sounded like there was a grinding noise under the car. Eventually we decided to tow the car to the dealer, and was there for at least 3 weeks because they had to order parts. They assured me everything would be fine, and I believed so too. Come April, the car began to have a major problem again. In between being taken to service after the first incident it kept making that grinding noise, albeit to a lesser extent. They had told me it was because of the cold (I live in NJ so the earlier months of the year are quite cold), so we slowly began to ignore it. Eventually it started to do it just as bad as the first time, and was taken in to service. No error code, but was brought in regardless. They had it in for 2 weeks, and supposedly changed a module to fix it again. Then come late May, and the car shows an error code (the same one with the suspension that limits you to 50 mph). I had it towed to service center, and the car was in for another 3 weeks. Again, another module ordered. Shortly after, we got Mercedes involved, and all they did was send us a refund of 1 months payment because the car had been in service so long. At this point, me and my family began to lose love for the car. Just that specific car. We then began considering getting the 2019 because of how bad ours was. ...but that changed after a while. At a nearby dealer, they had a used 2018 S63 that had relatively low mileage (6200). I test drove it, and loved everything about it. We got it for what I consider an amazing price (basically the price of a fully loaded E63s) and made the trade. It has a few kinks like some of the paint being damaged due to rock chipping, and a few other things here and there, but the dealer is taking care of it free of cost. To sum it up, we loved the E63s. It was a fantastic daily driver that felt amazing. Somewhere down the line we do have the intention of buying the next-gen E63, but until then it was an amazing journey owning the car when it had no issues! I also want to note that the car was taken well care of. No accidents, all the services that needed to happen where made (diff oil change). I'll stay active in these forums as I'm glad most got their cars to work fine with no major issues!https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...d9598fd249.jpg |
Sucks and congratulations on the new car at the same time. Who exactly did you contact at Mercedes Benz to get the months' payment covered?

Congratulations on being wise enough not the abandon the brand. Hope the new car is all that you hope for.

Hi Walter,
May I ask what the build date on your car is? It appears that you had issues within a very short period of ownership. I know that some others have had a few bugs but these were usually in 2017 models. Anyway, I wish you the best on your college career and bully for you in having such a nice assortment of vehicles to drive. |
