That’s crazy and appears to be a completely different error. Likely a technician screw-up at the dealer. Whatever, at this point it’s time to hand back the keys for a buyback/lemon.

Mercedes bought back my 2016 e63 wagon under CA lemon law 6 weeks ago. They made it very easy and the California BBB was very helpful as well. It was all around a good experience given the situation.

That's a bummer, but at least there is some resolution.
Did you buy the car from the same dealer that's been handling your CEL issues and the buyback? I'm looking at pre-owned cars at a different dealer than the one I'd take it to for service. Just curious if the worst case scenario happened and I had similar issues to you, would the dealer be as helpful since I didn't buy it from them. I think most service departments are considered somewhat independent from the sales portion of the dealership and one should not affect the other. But I'm not sure.

I bought it elsewhere. The service guy I was bringing it to has always been top notch. I am sure he did all he could to get me the best outcome.

So making a decision is turning out to be harder than I would like. There are no 2018 models available to my liking. ETA on 2019 isn't looking good. As for the GT 4 Door, I guess that will depend on US pricing. Under 100k there are plenty of options that I could live with, but in the 100-150 space there doesn't seem to be many similar value propositions. Sadly I just sold my other 2 cars, so this is really going to for my to buy/lease something rather than wait

Yeah I was looking at the Panamera when I first bought this. Went back when I thought I may be in this situation. The m5 would have to blow my mind to move to a sedan, although that would please my brother in law who happens head up AI at BMW Munich. He was very displeased with my choice. I suppose I should go drive one, and maybe the 8 series. I wish I could step up to the 200k range but right now just better that I try to stay sane.

go fast grocery getter wagon
spending near or over $200K for a sports sedan .. that's a bit too much unless you are a car collector or simply buying one for the heck of wanting one in the garage stable.

Oh at the 2k point I would start looking at v8 Vantage, 570 spyder etc and pick up a ford focus to beat on. Or even a Urus and dump my Fpace

This thread has definitely put some doubt into purchasing a used e63s like I had plans of doing. I have been lurking this forum and the Audi S8 forums for well over a year. Its how I planned to choose the lesser of 2 evils. I have yet to read about any major issues with some decent milaege used s8's. Just a known coolant issue that can leak down ecm wire harness and vibration issue from factory headers. Both of which the dealer had tsbs for. OP, you should look into an s8. Beast of a car like the e63.

Are they making the 2019 s8? I am actually looking at the r8 RWS. Only because I can't find any that isn't a sedan that I would want.

Funny, I would never touch another Audi, had 3 ‘lemons’ - 2 x A6’s and a A7, all had major coolant issues that Audi kept refusing to acknowledge, one actually had its brakes fail when I was actually driving it and Audi failed to accept responsibility.
Certainly it was a really poor dealership but my feelings towards Audi’s full stop died there and then.
I’ve also had quite a few issue with my X5 as well, nothing as bad as misfires but it’s been in a few times and the wheels have been poor since day 1!
I think you can get issues with every type of car, Just alas really bad luck if it’s you.

I've had a few both MB and Audi and every time at different dealers my MB experience was always better. It's sad when I have to send my wife to MB service with her Audi to get a tire fixed. Last time wife went to one of 2 MB dealers near us not only did they repair her Audi tire for FREE but they did the car wash and topped off the tires with nitro.

Which I told to the arbitration co. Declined the offer saying they need to do better . Communication from dealer and MB has been horrible

Mine was done under California law, which based on the CA formula ended up being roughly 1 dollar per mile. Thankfully I reported the complaint around 1600 miles, so I paid roughly $800 per year.

Yeah .I don't have a official complaint from diff service. That said SA says MB doesn't think they can fix it . Also there are people on this forum who got them to eat mileage, vs paying a lawyer, more wareawar work, etc. I told SA, get to work and I'll be bringing it back for anything and anything until my time is up. He has been great. mb not so much
