no MBs at the moment :(
That’s unfortunate. MB and my dealership were both fantastic. They made the process very easy.

Very. If I accepted I would be out 20k for the privilege of driving a car for 5 months. Oh and snow tires, and all the maintenance, and the roof rack....

What do the mfrs do with buy back cars? I imagine they fix them up and try to make lemonade to sell to folks who don't know the history?

I would imagine so, but I have no idea. I would imagine they don't want lemon stamped on it

So they are willing to eat half the mileage, or close the case and keep the car. They are not open to any further talks or replacing the car. Sucks

They try to sell them with a lemon title, unless Mercedes wants to buy it from them to tear down for engineering forensics.

They are hard to sell those cars with Lemon titles. I've seen this car for sale for a real long while, I think it was a buyback that had issues, they keep on dropping the price on it. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...elCode1=E63AMG

Where do you see that it is a lemon title?

For sure a hard sale. A blue wagon with red brakes that Benz can’t figure out how to fix. Cars worth 1/2 what they are asking.

They have had that blue wagon since the spring before last. I was thinking about a 2015 or 16 then before I decided to pull the trigger on the order for my 2018 and I thought about looking at the car, but ruled it out because of the issues and also because the car does not have DISTRONIC. Sorry to hear V70. What is the issue with your car?

CEL going on three weeks at the dealer. Dealer made changes to address misfires and while testing misfired again.

It seems the problem is exclusive to US cars only.
The symptoms are exactly what happened to my S600 back in 2004, dealer was clueless, MB sent technicians to solve the problem to no result.
The buyback process started when I had an idea that maybe it was the ****ty US gas quality with all these crazy environmental additives, stopped using BP or Mobil and switched to Shell only.
Car was back to healthy again.

It's a serious issue to the owners having their cars taken out of commission with no immediate solution but it seems to be a rarity at best. Hope MB takes care of them quickly.

That said, it had been stated that the E63s delivered to different parts of the US have been configured to deal with the differences in local fuel quality/mixes and as a result might perform better/worse (like the midwest). Does anyone have any info about that?

CEL with less than 1,000 miles you pay over $100,000 for and three weeks at the dealer is not acceptable!

I didn’t buy a car to have it lemoned. I don’t even think they how to fix it.

They don't. This is not specific to Mercedes. It's the same with other high-end cars. Forget about having anything non-obvious fixed, and expect damage if they try. Typically, it's not a problem early on because nothing significant goes wrong in most cases during the warranty period (unless they mess up routine services, which is not that rare actually). It's the most frustrating thing about owning these cars - extremely hard to find someone knowledgeable and competent enough to fix problems.

Service manager at my MB dealer (bought 27 cars from them in the last 18 years, mostly AMGs) whom I know for over 30 years, told me last week (when I was picking up my son's ML from service) to stay away from any 63 series for now (E, S. S-Coupe).
Showed me 4 Es, 3 S-Class cars in service bays that were waiting for MBUSA techs to arrive, since the dealers techs had no clue.
He has never before seen such a widespread issue affecting these cars and said MB folks were all in a state of panic.

Hmmm.... I have 7400 miles on the clock and not a single problem attributed to the vehicle. The only issue that I've had is the internet connectivity was hosed for a couple of weeks, but that appears to be fixed. I use BP premium gas 93 octane exclusively. Overall mileage average is 18.2 in mixed driving. There also does not appear to be any oil consumption as the indicator still is showing at Max when checked. I asked my shop foreman if he was aware of mass failures of engines with CEL and he hadn't heard of any.

So I also have 7400 miles, but have been to service 3 times now with CEL for misfires. First time they performed an update and swapped the coil packs around trying to recreate the errors. They said it was good to go and gave it back. A month later they replaced all coil packs and spark plugs. One week later I get a 3rd CEL and they are scratching their heads. Service has had the car for 3.5 weeks in total and no definitive fix. I finally got around to checking the forums and I find this thread among others.

Not happy and have inquired about buyback today. Waiting for either a solid answer and fix or buyback or lemon process. Love the car, but can't stand going to dealers and all the hassle.

I think it would be a mistake for anyone to avoid these cars do to some perceived notion they are all lemons or trouble, not true, a very low percentage like any other car. When they are right which is generally the case they are real step forward from the 212 IMO. Handle much better, drive better and faster and sound better and a lot more features. I still feel in these very low percentage of check engine lights it is something compression related like a leaking head gasket or something effecting compression that the dealer is not noticing. As was said if the car sits too long at the dealer and they are not coming up with any suggestions best off getting ones money back and finding out the legality of lemoning it in the persons States, all states seem to have different laws regarding this.
