I was at the Baltimore port / VPC for a photo project that Im working on today and came across all the MB cars there. As you can see, they are all outside, at least a couple of hundred cards that I saw. The only AMG I saw was this GLC SUV. I didnt see any e63s. Guess they must be stored elsewhere or at the back of the lot...? Its a huge lot.

Sorry for my car photobombing in one of the pics. ;-)

The longer a car sits at the VPC the further back into the lot it migrates. Models that are released for sale are picked out and loaded on trucks while those still on hold are moved back and further into the lot to make room for new arrivals. When the '18 Range Rover SCV8 was released for sale, my wife's had been there a couple weeks and ended up getting loaded on a truck two weeks after one that had just been unloaded from a boat that was at the front of the lot.

For those inquiring about storage @ VPCs...

If you're expecting red-carpet or sterile rooms, you'll be severely disappointed. There are some outliers to this depending on the VPC and "luck of the draw" for what quality level a specific employee/VPC operates at, but for the most part all these vehicles will remain parked, uncovered, until it is time for that vehicle to move - whether for loading/shipping or relocation. Some will have their plastic sheeting removed, some will have the sheeting still in place. As you see in a photo above from the Baltimore VPC, you can clearly see a GLC63 sitting there, uncovered, waiting to be moved. Like it or not, it's the same tier vehicle as the precious E63. Point being, you don't see it covered, so don't expect your car to be either.

I once had an S65 coupe delivered; it was on the front of a carrier truck - you know, the very front, where it hangs over the driver's windshield view - uncovered, with zero protections. The paint actually needed reconditioning from the amount of bugs that had blown their guts all over the front bumper by the time it reached me here in the mid-south US. This was a $245,000 flagship AMG vehicle. Everything was a-ok, but still a frustration that I had to deal with.

I'm sure most of you will flip **** at the thought of that, but you shouldn't let it stress you out. There's nothing you can do to change that, short of working there or knowing someone that does very closely, and at the off-chance something does happen, I don't see anyone having a problem getting that addressed & handled.

You're all going to love your vehicles when they arrive, and there's not much to do besides having faith that the brand will take care of you.

I've been told Long Beach VPC is indoors. It's the previous Boeing hangers so I assume they're massive buildings.

Not sure if this is news to get slightly excited about but today MBUSA put out a press release regarding August sales. In it the CEO said what classes will be replenished during September....

"While customer demand remains high, our inventory levels are impacted by delayed availability of many of our 2019 models," said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. "We are currently replenishing the inventory of our popular 2019 CLA-, GLC-, E- and GLS-Class this month."

Hopefully that really means my E450 Cab will be coming earlier than October

2019 AMG E63S lunar blue wagon
got a call from MB dealer. haven't heard from him in 2 months. said the e63s wagon will be released in December. he said, once it's released, I can have the car in one week, assuming they're not releasing thousands of cars at the same time causing trucking and logistical delays at the port.

it's been sitting in Baltimore since the mid July. February order, June 3rd decade build, July delivery to Baltimore.

Mhm, note the "outliers" comment in my previous post. Not all VPCs have the same infrastructure, which is why I stated it's healthy to expect it to be uncovered, outdoors. Don't give yourself any false expectations unless you know for a fact that your vehicle is housed differently. If you had it confirmed that your vehicle is indeed indoors/covered (like those pics state), great. Otherwise expect it not to be!

Also, definitely down for a lil' B & E at Baltimore VPC, who's buying my ticket?!

I was specifically told they would be housing my car in the loading zone at an undisclosed Ramada Inn parking lot. Cant say anything more than that.

That could be a modifier - and someone might suggest that the E63 is not a popular E class model. Goes to other comments about prioritizing the cars that sell more volume.

I don't see any hangers in Baltimore. Just rows of cars - although many in the satellite appear to be wrapped.

Difficult to interpret--might just be a general comment that those classes (and all variants) are in the process of being replenished. Who knows at this point...

Cars on the Valiant Ace landed at port near Los Angeles on 8/30--Code C4.

The second act of the "the wait" now begins...

The hardest wait! It was fun tracking the Valiant Ace across the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal, and up to Long Beach. We even managed to capture a shot of her going through the Canal on their webcam:

I did the same thing when watching my car make its way home after dropping it off following European Delivery.

Thankfully for me it was in the November/January timeframe so all that VPC hold business was over and I just had to wait for normal VPC processing time.

Elected to have the car shipped to Baltimore rather than my local SD dealer to save the few extra weeks for the route through the Canal. Plan on keeping the car for a long time and my annual mileage is typically fairly low, so didn't mind the extra miles for the coast to coast trip.

This wouldn't be.a big deal if the car wasn't magno Grey. You can easily polish off acid rain spots, paint contaminants, bug tar etc out of regular paint but leaving exposed magno paint for weeks or months in the elements isn't good. The car will have defects and the dealership might try to cover up and make the paint sheen uneven. I hope they cover matte finishes but I don't think they will.

They know this. Matte paint cars usually have different storage requirements.

I do wish Daimler would use the full body car covers that VW and Audi use.

Bunch of 63s just got CARB certified, so that's a good sign in my mind. S63s, GLE 63s and GLC 63s.

I consider this progress!

My salesman called me yesterday to update me on the delay issue and how that even though my car is sitting at the port, it is being held up for 60 days. I tried to pretend I did not know much, and dig into the reason for the delay. But he was cagey and did not seem to know much, certainly less than this forum, or at least that is what he lead me to believe.

This E63S wagon better be sick, otherwise this may be first and last MB.
