E63 S Sedan
According to my sticker (SA emailed me a PDF), I have the night package. I am bummed about the HUD. SA was upfront about supply chain shortages on HUD when we confirmed the order order prior to the build starting. I wanted the car for the drive train. This will be my first MB (I've been a small block Chevy guy for 50 years) and perhaps the first car I don't do any of the maintenance myself. I usually purchase my cars but this one I will lease for 3 years and then determine if I stay with MB.

Don’t be so bummed about the HUD. As soon as you put on polarized glasses, the display disappears. HUD is a nice gimmick, but definitely not essential.

I was a little pissed to not get night package but it can mostly be corrected with some wrapping, can’t add the HUD. So I guess it’s a trade off for MB logistical ineptitude.
My car was built 6/21/18 (third decade) and has both the HUD and Night Package. The original order included the Logo projectors (installed at VPC not factory) but that was dropped by the factory order system.

Oh? That's good to know. I wear polarized sunglasses all the time. I feel a little better knowing that. Thanks!

Im curious to find out if this is only in the MB lineup of HUDs. When I use my polarized glasses with my RR, the HUD still works, its just a bit less prominent, but you can definitely still read it.

Ok so when I said "disappears," I exaggerated. On my Corvette also, the HUD also became faint. Wouldn't have anything to do with the manufacturer. It's the technology used to display the information and its interaction with polarized lenses. The display in my opinion when wearing polarized glasses fades out to an almost unreadable display, which strains the eyes and defeats the purpose of the thing. So in daylight, I shut the thing off.

Any way you slice it, it's reasonable to assume that most people who wear polarized glasses would be disappointed with the performance of the display in the context of paying $1,000 for it.

That is why I no longer wear polarizing lenses. Many displays do not work well with them

polarizing lenses can also make it difficult to see smart phone and camera displays.Stopped wearing them years ago. Don't miss them at all. I order all my Rx glasses without polarizing.

Did anyone notice that the 2019s are rated at 19/25mpg versus 16/22 for the 2018s?

I use polarized glasses and only need to make the HUD a bit more brighter. there is a configuration for that.

do one really need this? probably not, but then you got used to it...

what you really don't need is soft close doors. save money on that.

I doubt they neutered the performance. Tuning makes most sense.

+1 on that idea

Disagree.

Soft-close doors are not a gimmick. For cars with frameless windows, every time the door is slammed the windows move ever so slightly out of alignment. Multiply that by 1,000 or 5,000 times, and you have window gaps and other problems.

All three of my present M-B cars have soft close doors, and nobody is allowed to go near the car unless he/she is trained on how to close the door.

for those that have received their MY19 please take a picture of the front air intakes. I would like to know if MB-AMG has really made any change to protect those intakes.

if people were used to use soft close doors (most slam the doors, even if you alert them they will forget) AND the soft close doors worked as they should (never let it slam. have an hydraulic protection to stop the door before closing) then soft close doors would be a must.

Those things have been sitting at the port since around July 10. Wonder if they are inside one of the buildings or just wasting away outside.

Ridiculous...this is no way to sell vehicles. If an order delivery is delayed, there needs to be an explanation from corporate...period. Extending promised delivery dates without explanation is inexcusable. And for all those "veterans MB customers" who are going to say that's what you should always expect when ordering a vehicle, I call BS. It just shows that some are willing to accept mediocrity with regard to management/operations. I'm fully invested in this purchase after waiting for a vehicle that has been sitting on US soil for nearly four months...but never again. My dealership has been as upfront as possible with me, but they are obviously being duped by MBUSA.
