Brake dust looks good!

Before you call me crazy, I think I’m starting to like the way the brake dust looks on my wheels! I have a black obsidian car with dark silver wheels and the brake dust blends in nicely and almost adds roughness to the wheels and the entire car look. Am I going crazy here?!

You are! It’s a little bit of denial and quite a bit of rationalization

One of the reasons I’m considering the carbon ceramic she is to not have to deal with this. I have a black SUV, black wheels and the dust is just unbearable.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I use this stuff https://www.walmart.com/ip/ArmorAll-...SABEgJ-ovD_BwE Or you could spray on a liquid clear coat over the brake dusted wheels to always maintain that brake dust wheel look

It does in some way ... I used it before and it will work for about 2 weeks the most. It does make washing the wheels a tiny bit easier.

I'm tired of brake dust and recently put ceramic coat. Hope it will help to keep it clean easier.

What's brake dust? Every time I wash one of my other cars I'm so happy I got the CCBs on the E63, no dust at all

Well, I got what I found available and I did look around. I’m in CA and aside from the CA dealerships I reached out all the way to AZ, UT, NV. I found pretty much all my desired options with the exception of the 20” black AMG wheels (not matte) and soft closing doors. I think my wheels are the first option you indicate above but I wish I had the black ones. Not a big deal anymore since I’m starting to be ok with my current wheels and, honestly, I’m not big into wheels.

I have been cleaning my wheels every week and it is work since I keep the side of the wheel clean . That said a bucket of soapy dawn and a small sponge cleans it fairly quickly. Since the wheels are painted I would rather not use the typical acid wheel cleaners. The interesting thing is that the soapy dawn seems to be as effective as wheel cleaner.

i believe that what makes you like the wheel with brake dust is that they get more dark and the chrome/silver part on the face of the rims contrast with it. There are 3 versions of these wheels and i'm guessing you got the standard one which has more chrome/silver in the interior of the wheel.

completely agree. i don't like to use many chemicals. you never know how things interact with materials specific to your car. you might not get any problem in the short run but in the long run might notice some fade/ware from those cleaning products.

soapy warm water and a little patience does miracles. but one has to upkeep with the car frequently

I have people that have never cleaned their wheels in years and trade in and the wheels are damaged from the corrosion

I looked up the exact wheel package and it says: 20” AMG Twin 5-spoke Wheels with Matte Gray Accents.

then I guess you would had been better with the 20-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels w/black accents. those give the effect/contrast that you seem to like

hey, you've got lemons so make lemonade as far as the brake dust is concerned. I don't like the stuff myself, but to each their own!!

I just bought Diablo gel wheel cleaner from Chemical Guys (https://www.chemicalguys.com/Diablo_...cld_997_16.htm) and a set of their brushes. They swear it’s safe for the wheels. I predict some tough times ahead for my braking dust! Has anybody heard or used this product and if so, with what results?

i use chemical guys and it’s been pretty awesome. Since I have the satin black wheels I use Meticulius Matte. What I love most are their spoke brushes. I just love getting the inner wheel all fresh and clean lol

You can buy all their stuff online. I live in Canada and it was shipped to my house with no issue

Yes, get the Easy Reach Wheel and Rim to clean the inner wheel, and then the Chemical Guys Canada ACC_G08 - Wheel & Tire Brush, Short Handle to scrub the face. Takes about a minute to do each wheel.

thanks. i'm in Europe, and shipping this would be costly. shipping + customs + import taxes...
