Let's find the lightest 20 Inch Wheels?
Hello AMG Friends,
I'm currently looking for the lightest 20 Inch Wheel for my W213 E63s Sedan.
I want to share my current progress and maybe anyone of you can help find the lightest wheels.
So the OEM 20" Cross-Spoke weighs
Pictures are from the User: Lap Time
13,04KG // 28,75LBS - Front 9,5x20
13,24KG // 29,19LBS - Rear 10x20
Since this is a heavy Car it's not that easy to find wheels for it.
I considered the HRE R101//R101LW. Sad for me to find out HRE won't offer them for the W213 E63s.
They recommended me to buy the HRE P101 which are almost as light.
Just to compare
20x10.5 - 19.6lbs (8,89kg) R101 LW for the Nissan GTR ( of course OFFSET varies so does the weight )
I was investing some serious hours to find any HRE P101 on a Scale.
All I could find was an HRE P101 on a Corvette C7.
Those are 12x20 from what I've found.
57,40LBS with a 335/30/R20 Michelin Sport Cup 2
The Tire weighs 32,1LBS
That means -> 57,40LBS minus 32,1 LBS = 25,3LBS // 11,47KG
Since we dont know the exact weight for a 9-10x20 Inch wheel we have to guess that it will be around 24.2LBS // 11KG
Which actually is an improvement. HRE & Vossen for example recommend for a perfect fit 10x20 & 11x20
So the next Wheel is the Vossen MX2.
They are pretty new. No chance at all to find weight-data.
I talked to them and they said on 10x20 and 11x20 for the W213 E63s they should be around 23-24LBS // 10,4 - 10,8KG
Since I'm running the Ceramic and have reduced unsprung Weight already I like to add light wheels to my Setup since its the only real mod I or we can do on this car.
An Akrapovic Exhaust saves 33LBS // 15KG which is not even 1% saving overall.
So the Question is
Do you guys know any light wheels with less weight than those above?
I really searched the forum for it couldn't find anything.

You can buy carbon fibre wheels at 5,5Kg .. there were some made for SLR and could be found around 2k€ but are super rare so if you break one, you will have no replacement.
New ones are around 10k€ and more.
If weight savings is your primary goal, stick to 19”.
Anyway, anything around 8-9Kg forged is amazingly light, I had OZ on my previous CLS63 and loved them. They were around 10Kg and you could feel the difference in unsprung weight.

Thank you for your answers.
Carbon wheels are no option for me. But thanks.
I know the Superforgiata aswell. There is no weights for the 20"? i can just see 19s. And the Offset is far away from 25 so spacers are needed
Edit: looks like you can order a custom Offset. I will check into them. Thanks. Found some data OZ Superforgiata 20x11 5x112 ET45 = 10,43KG // 23LBS
The BBS FI-R is just available in 9,5X20 which is perfect with an offset of 25. But nothing for the Rears. Just 11,5x20
22-23LBS is maybe the norm but i almost never seen any wheels on a scale. And i bought super lightweight ones before advertised in the same Size at 8,5KG and they weighed 9,7KG when i got them.
I thought about 19" aswell but its too small on this car

The 20×9-inch version weighs just 17 pounds; with the 20×12-inch version tip the scales at only 18.5 pounds

I have a set of 20 inch HRE P101 on an E43 and they weigh 9.35kg front (9x20) and 9.86kg rear (10x20). I believe the weight for E63 will be slightly different because of the different settings and offset.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes they will be different. Should be around 10,5-11kg with your information. Do you maybe have a picture on the scale?

Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the rims on scale. I only saw the seller weighed the rims when I went to collect them.

I had custom set for my S63 back in 2011, 18,8lbs per rim (front) and about 22lbs rears.
Btw, you have a terrific idea about reducing the un-sprung weight, E63 needs all the help you can get in that regard, it will help to improve the stiff ride, better handling and performance.

Hey Absent, thank you for your info. I'm already in contact with Vossen and by the looks of it my choice is the MX2 for now. Do you remember your Wheel Size?
I did alot of testing on reducing the unsprung weight. On my TTRS 1520KG. i swapped steel for ceramic brakes 13kg->7,9kg per Disc. And Wheels from 13kg each to 8,9kg.
It improved the 100-200kmh by 0,6 seconds. Which is alot. I will do the same test on the E63 when i swap the wheels.

We've weighed P101's in many different sizes. Of course the weight will range from vehicle to vehicle but here's what we've found:
20"x10" - approximately 20.80 lbs each
20"x11" - approximately 22.2 lbs each
Also, being HRE's largest dealer in the world I can pull some strings and potentially have them make the R101 LW's for you which would drive the weight down even further.
HRE (along with BBS) are widely considered the top two wheel companies in the industry. Once you have either of them in sight nothing else really compares when it comes to sheer quality, durability, and craftsmanship.
If you'd like to discuss the HRE's, the potential for the R101 LW's, and other brands you are considering please reach out to me directly - 786 249 0127 ext. 2109

CCBs are a must in the E63, IMO.
I have not had any car without them since 2007.(except my wife's G63s or Range Rovers)

Didn't find any wheels from them on a scale. Just found my wheels 17-19lbs estimated weight. Will take some time but i will update when i get them.
Should be world's first and world's lightest 20" forged wheel for the E63s for sure. can't tell more at the moment.

Brixton Forged takes a very stylistic approach when it comes to their wheels. Will some of their wheels be lighter than OEM wheels? Yes. Will they be lightweight in the sense that it can battle HRE or BBS? No. Generally with their most lightweight options you're averaging around the mid 20 lbs per wheel.
