2018 E63S AMG
Saw my first E43 out in the wild . . .
Driving in to work yesterday I saw an E43 pass by just as I was getting ready to turn into my office.
They'd been behind me to my left in the other lane as we were making the turn so I didn't get a chance to see the car till he was passing by.
Heard a sewing machine revving and saw a Selenite Grey (no Magno) E43 pulling hard as it passed. Looked good, but sadly didn't sound anything like our E63S.
The sound as much as anything sold my wife when we first went to look at a 2016 E63. If they'd lit off an E43 for us, we might not be driving the 2018 E63S today. It's that big of a difference.

The E53 is only slightly quicker than the E43 (one tenth from 0 to 100). The E63 is nearly a second quicker than the E53. The E63S is a full second quicker. So they are about as equal in performance as they are in price.

Zero to 60?? You think the E53 will be bottom 3's?
Who has tested the E53 in the wild? What mags? Its a good car for the money though.

I've test driven the E43. It is an okay car, but it isn't a high performance car. The E53 has barely more hp and very similar performance stats to the E43.
Drives comparably to any other forced induction six cylinder sedan - e.g. Audi A6 3.0T, BMW 540i, etc. It does not drive anywhere like any V8 car. Lacks energy compared with the BMW M550i and Audi S6, forget about E63S.
I've test driven all the cars I refer to in this post.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I just got a E450 Wagon, the performance is actually pretty amazing for what it is, 362 HP, but nothing compared to the E63 AMG. Yes, the sound, the sound of the E63 AMG is amazing. I was thinking about selling my E63 AMG and was talking with my brother today. He was saying, don't do it, "your a motorhead and will only want some other fast car within a few months and spend more money" Ya, he's right, I had a guy who wanted to trade me a Ferrari California for the AMG wagon, thought about it, but naw, the AMG would blow the doors off that car. I mainly got the E450 Wagon for all the driving I need to do, like 30K per year. No way did I want to put those kind of miles on the E63, I've tried to keep the miles down the best I could on that car, have a chevy truck I drive and the mercedes S550 I just traded in for the E450 Wagon. I Was going to load a picture of the new white E450 I got the other day but for some reason pictures are not loading. I did manage to get pictures to load over on the 213 forum.
