Thank you to the community
I joined this forum back in May with the sole intent of asking Vic a question which he so kindly answered. I wound up ordering my e63 a few days later from Shahul. For 6 months, almost every night I’ve come here to browse and educate myself, contribute occasionally and just learn as much as I could about this wonderful car. I purchased the zunsport grills back in July (just a bit premature) thanks to 2012 merc post. Followed the threads about winter tires since I’m in New York and finally made my decision last week just in time. Read about the CELs and weird door hinges. I got to know the usernames of a few of you and I’d purposely read threads if I saw a name I recognized was active. Finally the cars have been released and I should be traveling to MD next weekend to pick mine up. My first MB and I’m quite excited. Thanks to you all. Every post and Every question asked by all of you has been tremendously helpful. I don’t post much but I lurk almost every day. Thanks again and best of luck to all of you that are getting your hands on these beautiful cars in the coming days.

Victor, your post is something I could have written.
Ordered from EuroMotorCars and will fly there to drive it back to Dallas - hopefully early next week. Where will you be traveling from?

Congrats! Enjoy the drive - avoid Arkansas! See my Odyssey post: https://mbworld.org/forums/w213-amg/...ndshields.html
My car was already broken in after the European Delivery, but still tried to vary the engine speed during the trip back from MD to San Diego.
You'll really enjoy the Distronic adaptive cruise control. One thing to watch for is using the speed limit adoption feature in Texas. They have those 35 MPH side roads alongside the Interstate and the camera picks up those signs and changes the cruise control from 85 or 90 MPH to 35 MPH without warning. Can make things exciting. Maybe the new route based speed limit feature will be better . . .

I did use a Uniden R3 for my drive back from Germantown and had it on while driving through VA. The R3 supposedly does a good job of suppressing its emissions and isn't easily detected by radar detector detectors. That said, both of my previous two tickets way back when were from visual spotting of the detector - old school Escort and Passport were much larger back then.
Big improvement for your drive is that Waze is now integrated into both Apple CarPlay and iPhone IOS 12 - so you can also run Waze on the big screen
All that said, you're limited to 85 MPH during the first 1000 miles if you follow standard break-in procedure ;-)
