Best tune/bolt ons out there?
Which is best out of Renntech, Eurocharged, and DMETuning? Renntech said they offer some kind of $50k warranty if any damage is done to your engine. Not sure if the other two can say that?
What's the standard for downpipes? Are they really needed? I feel like the tuning culture is more of a BMW thing. Young guys trying to inch the most out of their cars. Here, more refined older gentleman taking less risk. I could be wrong. Curious what you guys think!

The best tune is to stay with factory ECU calibration, no problem with warranty, no problem with a dealer, no headache or thoughts about possible problems. IMHO
These factors above are really keeping me out of DP and tune.

I'm having the same dilemma. Renntech & Weistec are my options. Personally, I might be going with Renntech. Yes it's $1,000 more than Weistec but knowing that dealers are ok with Renntech tuning and won't really give any issues kinda helps me decide with Renntech. At the end of the day if you choose to tune the car, you have to be ready with any issues it may cause in the future. Not saying it will, but just be prepared. Also if you go to Renntech's website and look at the dealers they have in USA, you will notice that there are a lot of Mercedes dealerships so that means something. Plus, my brother had purchased his W212 E63s from a Mercedes dealership here locally that had Renntech Tune & Downpipes. Hope that helps.

Also, the pay to play guideline is always in effect, so just be prepared for worst case, as you mentioned, regardless of how mod-friendly your dealer seems.

Be careful with this rationale...if you have a Renntech (or tuner) friendly dealer nearby, then this holds up. But make sure you have at least confirmed with the dealership, a SA and tech, that they do in fact support Renntech mods, or are mod-friendly in general. Just because one dealership is OK with Renntech (or other tuner) does not mean the one down the street is.

I would go with renntech, I did do full blown brabus upgrade on my old GL550, but it is a pain in the *** if something goes wrong. There is no certified brabus dealer on the east coast, the closes shop that brabus had certified was about 3 hour drive from my house.

What is wrong with us? We buy one of the most powerful production sedans ever made and want them to go faster. What a rabbit hole we’ve led ourselves down.
Hi! My name’ s kcjonz and I’m addicted to horsepower and torque. I recently bought a Prius and haven’t driven driven a performance vehicle in 7 days. LOL
Someone asked me today why I got rid of my S6. I answered. “Chasing the Dragon...Chasing the Dragon”

Renntech, like Ralcbah said will only be ok at a Renntech friendly dealer! If you went to another MB dealership, they will not be so friendly. If your car is flagged, it is a permanent thing and will most likely never be unflagged. All work over $1000 will have to be approved by a regional rep after flagging and they will go through to make sure there is not an iota of a chance the tune did not have anything to do with it before authorizing of denying the repair.
