$700 for an alignment? Are you certain about that. My dealer charged $115 for a 4 wheel alignment. 4 tires for all seasons would be $1000, PS4s would be $1300.

Look at the website. Tirerack will recommend a facility to mount and balance the tires. Process works well and they also offer road hazard warranty for free. You probably won't get two years of wear out of the tires anyway. 😀

Second. Tirerack recommended installers are a good deal. You know the price up front (it's there when you buy the tires) and Tirerack ships the tires directly to them. It's very convenient and way cheaper than the dealer. Considering the way AMGs eat rubber, it's the only way to go.

I just noticed that sound tonight when driving slowly out of a car park with some lock to lock turns. I thought I'd picked up a tree branch in the subframe somewhere!!

I'm surprised the tech thought our stock setup was aggressive?

I assume that you are experiencing this when the temperatures are below 45 degrees. It's called skipping due to the tread compound on summer tires becoming stiff. Gets worse if the road surface is wet or you are turning over painted lines. It has nothing to do with the tires being agressive.

Looks like Hberman and others have you sorted; to add, definitely shop around a bit for services like alignments and products like tires. Likely you can find much better deals. Regarding 700 for an alignment, I can't read the paper detailing what you get for that amount of money, but seems very high. I take my low (very low) car to a shop that has a particular type of setup, and they only charge 155 I believe.

Regarding the tire skipping thing, if in fact that is what is going on, yep, it's normal. Mine does it even worse now that it's on larger wheels and lower profile Michelins.

At 10k miles, you could very well need new front tires...I did. Only up front, and only one of the tires was really done. Cords were showing on the inside of the driver side front tire, due to the negative camber. I didn't get an alignment right after lowering my car, which is likely why only one wore so quickly.

If you lower your car the front tires will last maybe 4,000 mi. if you don't replace the upper control arm.
As you lower your car you increase the negative camber, there is no factory adjustment for camber. The F1 arm is the only way to bet proper alignment even when not lowered.

BTW, I disagree with the statement that tires will last in 6k miles. I did seasonal tire change at 6800 miles back in November and my summer tires are like new or 90% life left... I lowered my car a week later after I bought that but I did the alignment after that too. Can post pictures later Yes, I agree camber on the front axle is extremely crazy for the daily car but still will not kill tires in 4-6k miles.

I guess you need to read my posts a little slower.
F1 were able to produce a set with OEM rubber bushings for me after I said I would do the R$D.
There are a few more guys buying them now that I have proven that they work as I wanted them to..silently
If you are not killing the 1.5" of tire on the inside before and after lowering you are not driving..

Don't believe me I don'r care, taking advice from someone that is trying to help and knows what he's talking about is up to you.

My dealer replaced all four tires with Michelin PS4S and did a 4-wheel alignment for $1800. $1500 for two plus the alignment seems quite pricey.

My front tires were pretty much done at 10 k miles and rear were still OK. Stock were Pirelli so I wanted to make the switch to Michelin anyway.

Was going to finish the rears with a nice drift mode session, but ended up getting a puncture of the right rear tire in the sidewall the weekend before I was going to bring the car in So the drift mode session will have to wait.

Had kind of expected the rear tires to wear first since when driving in Sport+ and Race mode the rear will spin up and step out a bit before the front, but looks like the aggressive camber setting is wearing the inner side of the front tires at a higher rate than the little bit of wear that comes from the rear stepping out.

I did not say "I don't believe you" - I said I don't have that issue as you have after over 6000 miles daily driving. If you mean "<..>you don't drive<..>" - by driving canyons every day as you do (again by other thread) you're right I don't, but that means the reason why your tires are dead - canyons, not camber.

I had issues with front brakes and tires on my previous R35 GT-R after every track day, but I was not saying "Nissan made ****ty brakes and you need to buy another brakes and tires <...>" - just because track day will kill brakes, tires and etc. Same about canyon driving, drifting, etc.

I don't believe that AMG's engineers or MB will do **** in this field as suspension. Again, yes, camber is too big for that car, but not enough in order to kill tires in 4k miles. This thing is super personal and will change by different driving styles.
