Drag Racing 1/4 Mile Thread
FIgured we could use a thread to compare times and share information.
First time I went to the track, I was on the pirellis and only got 2 runs in, 60ft of 1.8 and kept spinning, kept launch control at 3.5k rpm. 11.5 and 11.3. Then it rained and the track got shut down.
Last night, back at the track, again only ran three times but this was because of an engine exploding and painting the track with oil. I ran 11.2, 11.1 (attached), and 11.2. All runs were at 124mph which is very consistent. The difference is the 60 foot, I spun a bit on both the 11.2 runs, and just a hair on the 11.1 run.
Both tire brands need a little heat in them, but the Michelins have far better cold tire temperature performance. With hot tires I am sure I can get a 1.65 60ft which should translate into a 11.09. I will get a chance to try this in February as my local AMG group is renting a drag strip for unlimited runs!! I'm going to play with launch control RPMS to find optimum launch rpm.
I am also annoyed that the car will not let you do a standing burnout. In drift mode, pushing the brake and gas kills the engine power. I tried every combination of gas, then brake, brake then gas, varying pressures of each, there is NO way to do a standing burnout. That combined with turbo lag makes it a bit difficult to do a burnout at the track in order to warm up the rear tires. The best way to get a good launch is to drive around, keep the temps up, then get straight into line at the track and hope the tires stay above 80 degrees. Once they're below 70, you will spin (even with great track prep that I enjoy at Houston Raceway Park.)
Attached below is the timeslip and pic of my car. I am confident I can get at least 11.0x run under the right conditions. I had nearly a full tank of gas, so with a 1.65 60ft and a little less weight, I think I can get 11.09x. I don't believe the car can get into 10s stock though. I may throw some race gas at the end of the track day just out of curiosity. If the car is pulling timing I might actually do better.
All my track times are full weight (everything that comes in the trunk), all mats etc, all fluids, and pump 93.
How have you guys been doing at the track? I was also surprised how close dragy was, about .03 off (.03 lower on average
DA was about - 100

1/4 time for stock cars is pretty close to each other and has differents between 11.1-11.4 depends on temperature, altitude, fuel, driver weight (lol) and etc.
Make stage 2 or 3 with pure turbos + sports fuel and then you can try to get some incredible numbers. I just want to say many people here (including me) were posting their stock 1/4 )))) My best is 11.26.

It will be good to have a collection of data, especially as cars start to get tuned and modded. I think the data should also include D/A whenever possible. Some (those usually without boost) claim it doesn’t have much of an effect on boosted cars but I can assure you it does.

Anyone launching at higher/lower race start RPM? You can raise/lower using the paddles.
Thinking 4000rpm launch with a well prepped track is the key.

I haven't seen anyone do it just yet, but you're very close! I wasn't able to get that close, but the car wasn't stock long, and I clearly didn't know how to drive it (still working on that actually). Get it!

Wow 127 is quite impressive. That one must have been a factory freak.

Well I went to my local track Friday night and only squeezed in one run. Too many breakdowns and track clean ups. Really tired of this happening, I will just wait for our AMG group track rental (PS let me know if you' want to join, few slots left in Houston). I managed a slow 11.2 at 123, BUT I got a 1.65 60ft, with 34 in the rear and 42 in the front (my everyday pressure). So if you swap that 60ft to my other runs of 11.11 with a 1.68 60ft, that's an 11.0. I still think the car is capable of 11.0 with warm tires and good cool weather. I'll give it a shot feb 22!

What settings have you found to give you the best runs? Shifting manually at all, or allowing car to?

Have not had a chance to post much but I could not pass up an opportunity to talk drag racing. I have not taken my car to the track and I am curious to see what it will run. It is impressive what these cars run and are capable of. For now I will have to be content with racing the car in the attached video. That's 1/8th mile racing for those wondering. Cheers!

Thus far I have only tried race mode, in total only 5 passes I think. With our track rental I will get 30 or more passes ha.. I will try every combo setting and report back!

Wow you've got to try and put into words what that feels like???

It definitely is a handful but so much fun...not just driving but the work and preparation before a race too. Some of the words I can use to describe it are visceral, violent, brutal and rewarding. The sport does not get enough credit for the amount of effort, time and teamwork that goes into 3.6 seconds. It's more physically draining that most people would think. After a weekend of racing I'm pretty beat up but it's worth the smile on my face.

Yeah I really want to see it replicated. Not that I'm doubting but damn ... Shaving 2 full seconds off 60-130 ? That is insane. Hope it pans out, Jerry may tune mine soon. I've seen some wacky dragy numbers though, hope this isn't one of them!

I just have not seen one tune only car get that type of gain. That requires a serious bump in hp/tq. But then again there are not a ton of guys here with tunes in the first place.

I just saw your dragy posts. I am really impressed. We're all the runs in that ballpark and that was the best or was that a one off ringer of a run?
Also please tell me every modification you have and where to get them because I will not stop until our cars are twins
