go fast grocery getter wagon
Fog light may not be much help anyway. You just simply have to slow down drastically to see ahead. Our headlights are already pretty decent in light output.

Over 50 years of driving, have yet to see an oem fog/driving light worth a damm.
As bobblehead posted, when driving in low visibility conditions one should slow down and increase following distances. And if your car has a rear fog light, turn it on, but only if visibility is poor.

I wish someone would sell a software mod to allow the European setting.

if you think that reason is in “software” , then I guess you have a tool to upload the “software” , which means you can get “software” for free, just pick any EU vehicle.

Somewhat, related,. and I have no complaints on this E63S wagon, but i have to say I noticed that while using the brights on it, it did not see as distant or crisp as in my 2011 acura. Subtle difference, and just saying, it is very close... but I expected more of a much more modern and expensive car.

The fact that my old BMW offered better lighting seems like a failing of the MB.

multibeam led include fog lights inside of them.
There should be no difference in “software” between Eu/Us models. So what I mean to say, if you think there is a difference , by using vediamo&stardiagnosis you can test any eu software in your us car.

Althought the system could theoretically be programmed to only illuminate the lower part of the road in thick fog, I don't think it does that even in Europe. Plus, yellow fog lights do a much better job of cutting through fog. I would also like to see them return. It's not just M-B, howerver.

Now I don't understand. The US lights are limited by US law. They don't do all the tricks that the system is designed to do, like only turn off the cells that would blind an oncoming car, while leaving the right side of the road illuminated fully. This is US vs. Euro software in the headlight control.

The Rear Fog lights were especially nice to flip on to brake check someone tailgating.
