Anyone try the new Renntech ECu
Anyone try the new RennteckHHT handheld ECU set-up ?
|
Hello,
Yes this looks interesting. My X6M had a HHT from Velos designwerks, and it was great. It made it easy to go back and forth from tuned to stock. Here is the link for the Renn: Cheers, https://www.renntechmercedes.com/ind...13-e63s-detail |
so, how does it work ? Just plug that into the OBD port and switch to 'stock' or 'tune' ?
|
Interested in the Renntech ECU also but wondering if any other reputable shops provide a cheaper alternative with similar performance. Also, since I'm in California and don't have access to octane higher than 91, is getting a tune basically a waste of money?
|
Is this not similar to the OBD port tunes that all the other tuners are doing now? EC told me last I was there they can do it for the M177 as well using the MyGenius handheld

So when you receive the tuner, it's ready to go. No need to download a software to your computer, load the tuner, etc. When you receive the module, make sure the toggle switch is set to tuned, car in key position 2 and then plug the module in your OBD2 port. The little LED turns red and starts loading. After about 2 minutes the LED turns green and the process is done. You can now unplug the module and you're good to go. If you decide you want to go back, just repeat the process with the toggle switch moved to stock. You can switch between tuned and stock as often as you like. |
So I just noticed the 93+ octane - It's almost impossible to find anything higher than 91 in Utah ( unless you go to a race gas center, and that is a P.I.T.A.) wonder if that is an issue for the tune.. detonation?

When ordering, you have to supply us with your VIN, we then pre-load the module with the tune

Will the gains be much less using the ECU on 91 octane? Would love to get more info. Thank you. |
Well I got the new Renntech handheld ECU downloaded and WoW! That thing wakes the sleeping giant. Just for fun, I did a launch control to 60 and did 2.88 .. keep in mind that is on 91 octane and at 5000 feet above sea-level. Happy Customer

Wow. I wish you have done some YouTube clips for us to see |

Eurocharged is currently offering their tune for $1500 vs Renntech's that is close to $4000. Is tuning pretty much cookie cutter now or is there any real benefit left to visiting a local tuning shop with a dyno? Are any tunes open source in that the customer can see what actually was changed vs just seeing the end result? Does Renntech have some secret sauce in their tune or are they just more expensive due to their higher marketing and overhead costs?

Yes, I am very interested. You guys really supplied both a great tune, and great support for my BMW X6M. I will contact you. Is this the same, specifically with the myGenius?

I got my OETuning tune for $1,300 all in with the device. Is there a Eurocharges/Renntech tune out there with 25hp more? Probably... |
