Why "Progressive"?

Why "Progressive"?
Anyone have a clue why the display mode is called "Progressive"? I get Classic and Sport, but the coolest mode has a name that makes no sense to me. Bad translation from German? Political statement?

Progressive ideas or systems are new and modern. In this case, a gauge that is different from normal analog type gauges. It is my favorite configuration.

I’m using Progressive also 99% of the time. Change it up now and then, but always return after a bit.

Same here, I am 99% of the time sing progressive and 1% sport. Progressive reminds me of the gauges from the project one.
