I was told by the MB peeps the dash temperature is for brakes and at a track day I was seeing temps over 220F which I can’t imagine tires would be too happy about?
My display shows tire temp, not brake temp.

The car doesn't show you brakes temperature at all. This is another "cool story" from people who are enjoying to make "cool stories" about their cars.

The temperatures on gauges clutch are temperatures in the tires.

BTW, 225F is not unusual for tires to reach on a track. Under similar circumstances, rotors can approach 1000 degrees. 800 is common for metal rotors.

Good to know. Thanks.

I stand by my innocence of repeating what the AMG instructors were passing on to me.

And TBH I'm surprised the temps get that high on the track. Has me wondering what the maximum temperatures would be before the tires melt?

Google knows a lot!

At 1,112 degrees Fahrenheit (600 degrees Celsius), the gases are hot enough to melt the new rubber almost immediately, which results in cleaner separation of the melted rubber from gases and other aggregates.
