2018 E63S
Life's too short to keep car of this value if you don't dig it. Like many others here, I think the m5c would be perfect for you and check all the boxes. It's a really good package with much less race car feel, while actually being quicker than the e63. Looks are subjective of course, but lowered and wheels, etc, m5 is a cool looking car. The interior is identical to our x1 interior/dash which is a shame, but it's highly functional and intuitive. Drive it again and then make your decision. Couple cents for ya.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Agree with the above posts if unhappy with the car why keep it? Given the right driving conditions I probably would have kept my E63 amg wagon. That is if I lived in a area that had a lot of smooth canyon roads or a place where I could really use the speed and performance of this car. Both areas I drive in though are not well suited to this type of car, Florida is a densely packed area and I'm mostly stuck at traffic lights or in traffic jams and then on I75 there are speed traps all over place and speeding is a pretty serious thing in Florida. Then in Rhode Island the roads are horrible and it's all bumps and potholes and a lot of the roads are 35 mph type roads. It just made no sense. It would have been one thing if the 2018 was more like my 2012 and more of a everything car and more comfortable but when MB redesigned the car in 2018 it was geared a lot more towards race as has been discussed. But, ya get rid of the car and take the loss, why take another 15K hit over the next year if your not going to be happy with the car? Can't hurt to see what BMW will give you for trading in the AMG for a M5.

I don't experience this on my E63 S, the noise level is ok. No vibrations through the foot well and pedals.

I chose the standard seats with massage and ventilation, I just love them. Never heard any complains about the seats.

There is an option for this, accoustic comfort package deletes the wind noise (and most of the road noise)

Wrong, Mercedes decided to change how this works and you now can see the same in the nice 12,3" wide screen..

The 2019 E63S AMG to me is a work in progress, about 80% of what it could be. The 2015 CLS AMG 63S I had with the 5.5 ltr twin turbo and all wheel
drive is the superior vehicle by a wide margin, and it looks a way lot better.
Good Luck!
lmao.

Yikes! I wouldn't be making a decision based on a vehicle virgins review! I'm much more partial to Chris Harris' review of the E63S.

Having owned a 212 and 213 gen, I can tell you the W212 felt much better in terms of ride quality and seat comfort.

The 213 took a few thousand miles but it quickly grew on me and I learned to enjoy it for what it is. People in general can be very particular about configurations, settings, and other appointments in the vehicle for various reasons; fortunately in my case I am more of an adaptive driver and can adjust to the situation at hand.

You are always going to sacrifice something, you just need to figure out what thats going to be, more $$, duller looking, better ride comfort, etc.

I can see your frustration especially if the vehicle was a purchase over a lease. FWIW my wife also complained about the seat comfort as well but then again mine is always complaining.

good luck with your decision!

So, you didn't mention the one thing I'm experiencing on my 2019 GLE 63s AMG. When backing up and turning the steering wheel to full left I get a horrendous clunking sound from the right front wheel/axle area. I haven't been able to replicate it with the wheel full right. The dealer says it's tire skip. I've heard tire skip and it never sounded like this. Anyone else have this phenomenon and have you confirmed what the heck it is? I'm planning on buying a Hero camera to mount to the frame to watch what's going on in this area to see if I can identify it.

There is an internal service document describing this issue - I have seen it while sitting next to the chief technical advisor of our local Mercedes-Benz. He explained to me it is a pain in the *** for them to deal with it and rather talk their customers out of trying to fix it by saying "Can't replicate", "Can't hear it", etc.
This document includes a video and describes this issue in detail. Applies also to S63 and other models.

Check tightening moments of both lower control arms and if you have the possibility, replace them. That's what I did.

I still have the worst AMG ever. Awaiting 2020 Macan turbo, then I will payoff MB Laguna Niguel to take it back. The latest: suspension clunks loudly over speed bumps at low speed, I have experienced the suspension noise you mentioned, on a reroute out of LA this last Friday through Vernon, Ca the drivers door actually rattled in the chassis frame at low speeds on rough streets. Truly a poorly designed vehicle. How the MB Board approved the product managers plan to build this E62S is a mystery.

Sorry if this is a repeat as I lost my last reply.
Thanks for the reply. I was able to confirm the noise. It was tire slip on the pavement associated with tight suspension and drive train when in full steer while backing up. Sorry for your experience. Mine has been awesome! No issues as you have described with noise. Mine is a GLE 63s Coupe. Not sure if that's what you have. I'm running on Continental ContisportContacts. Mabye that's the difference in road noise. Putting on Pirelli Scorpion Winters in the next couple weeks as the snow is beginning to fall. Will let you know how they sound.

Can you guys elaborate on what you mean by tire slip and how it can be confirmed? On my E63S backing up at full steer I get a gigantic clunking noise and could never figure out what was causing it. Always though it was loose tie rods or something and figured I would just complain to the dealer about it next time I took it in.

Jesus, what drama!

The car is exactly what it is designed to do!

Is it as soft as a M5? No, but change tyres and it’s not bad.

Is it as smooth as a Panamera? No, but buy a Havana hat and some slippers.

Is it as quiet as either on the road? No, get some ear plugs and have a nap!

Is it a unbelievable, rip roaring, blood thirsty, loud bloody awesome ride? Hell Yes!

I had all these little niggles and complaints when I first got it, is the M5 a more complete car? Yes probably.

But this car is the most incredible, emotional, wonderful car and it’s got character! I. In a day and age when every body is going electric, saving the environment and being wonderfully PC and generally towing the line, this car doesn’t do that.

I could swap it tomorrow for the new RS6 or back to the M5 but I won’t because I bloody love it, it looks awesome, it sounds awesome and it’s awesome to drive!

This is my 5th amg also and I totally disagree with you. My favorite one so far. Loved my 2008 with the pp1 package, the na engine was magic I drive in s+ at all times, car has seen comfort mode in break in period only. To each their own.

I had all generations before, from E500 through E55 , last one being 2014 E63S, loved them all.
They were always used as daily drivers and semi compliant ride is a must in Chicago, the current model is just to stiff for my back to handle (dropped from a bridge 30ft down to a creek during a rally in 1981, I was a navigator for a guy who thought I was too conservative with my instructions, ended up with 2 collapsed discs).
S63 became my compromise so I modified the hell out of it, maybe can't beat a Tesla in 0-60 but plenty fast for me.

E63. AMG
Long time AMG driver

OMG, so many complaints about this amazing car. I too have been fortunate to drive an E500 which was an incredible car for its time. After that I had a 1999 E 55, a 2006 E55, 2012 E63 and now a 2018 E63S. Every generation was better then the last. All my cars always got so much attention as I was fanatical in keeping them as looking great regardless of the crappy weather in Chicago. BTW every MB I had were bulletproof, never a major problem ever. This 2018 is the BEST car ive owned. Fast as hell, yes rides stiff but that is the way it was designed to be. I can’t understand so many people on this site complaining about a car that is what it is. Do they actually drive or research before buying A CAR. I get every car magazine and read extensively about this generation. All articles were right on about the idiosyncrasies of this car. The day I test drove it I knew this was the best ever. BTW- Came with sport exhaust and every option except CCB. Blk, Blk, comfort seats. Everywhere I go people look and comment. MB created the perfect car for ME. Finally had 6 or 7 BMW’s in mid seventies and 80’s. Switched to MB’s in late 80’s and never looked back. Will be a AMG man forever. Cheers and just enjoy this MONSTER.

OP, sounds like you need a much softer car with more nannies, try Audi or BMW for a retirement spec machine.

Nice said, thanks!

On my 2nd AMG and glad I got out of M3s and M5s..... E60 (F10) was total disaster that finally made me switch to something much better!

What do nannies or retirement have to do with it? The M5 has a softer (less harsh) ride yet arguably handles better. The RS7 kills the E63 if you’re into tuning and 1/4mile performance. And neither one of their interiors rattle like the MB!

I had a 2016 C63S. It had quite a few rattles and was harsh as hell. I switched to all seasons for compliance. The 2019 E63S I traded for is vault solid. No rattle or squick anywhere. I guess its hit or miss with these cars.
