400 Miles on a Tank in E63!

On our first roadtrip in the E63, from San Jose to Seattle. We're getting 23 MPG much to my surprise. Over twice what I'm used to in town. Much of it has been at 85 MPH too. Very pleasant surprise. The car is such a great roadtrip vehicle. The 3-D Burmester makes the boring stretches go by fast.

Another pleasant surprise: my wife was pulled over on I-5 for 80/60 but got off with a warning. Good omen for a great roadtrip.

1. what tunes were you playing over the burmester?

2. no radar detector/waze to have prevented the pull over?

Lots of music, from Mahler, Beethoven and C.P.E Bach to Queen, the Dead, Beatles, etc. All great road music. 64 gig of pretty much everything on USB. Plus Sirius and TuneIn stations for variety, even though the signal quality isn't as good. But it's surprisingly acceptable with the 3-D Surround signal processing.

No radar detector. Waze/Maps saved my *** a few times with fixed radar but my wife was caught by a trooper driving. I'm always scanning ahead and behind so wouldn't have been caught but she gets all the tickets because she never watches for cops. Anyway, this one ended well. No idea why, but I'm not complaining.

It is a tremendous road trip car. Fast, comfortable. I wish the high end stereo was an option on the wagon but I can’t complain too much I guess. Safe travels.

On my latest roadtrip I had an average speed of 60mph and consumption equal to 25mpg.
This was approx 2000km (1200 miles ) in total.

I have observed the same kind of mpg, even with some aggressive acceleration thrown in. I drove from Cleveland to Harrisonburg, Va., and got 24mpg.
