2018 e63s edition 1
Any know issues with first year models/edition 1's?

I'm currently driving a 2017 c63 and looking at an edition 1 2018 e63s later today. I usually try and avoid first year models but I found an edition 1 I really want. Is there any common issues where it big or small with the first year production run cars? Also, how is handling compared to a c63s, for those who have driven both. Comparable?

MY17 S63AMG - MBUSA Buyback. MY16 SL63 - Sold MY19 W213 E63s. 2020 W213 E63s Wagon
As far as I know, the 2018 W213 had the check engine light issues that was finally resolved in 2019 with α software update. I would ask to see the VMI ( vehicle service history ) to see if anything else is up to par. Good luck.

I had a 2017 C63s coupe. The E63s handles better than the C63s despite the added weight. Overall it's a much better drivers car compared to the C. The C is easier to slide, but then again you can do that with the E in drift mode.

I would avoid edition 1s as some of the early batches of W213s had issues with the 9 speed MCT.

The Edition 1s don't have some of the MY2018 hardware updates and are missing key features found on the subsequently released 2018 cars.

Is this fact? This is what scares me, what would have been changed to remedy that as I can't find anything about this. I had heard this before, maybe from you actually.

Yep, and the main reason I avoided 2018s all together when buying my 2019 ~ 2 years ago.

This could be an overblown issue, but I personally know two people who had their early MY 2018 E63s lemoned due to transmission issues. There are more than a few instances just on MBworld alone..
