STAR won't lower '12 CLS

Posting here since the non-AMG CLS forum is straight dead.

Spent an hour today with the shop foreman at my local shop - we were able to lower my car via STAR about 1", looked great, perfect stance - BUT - the computer wouldn't let you store the new settings as default; the car goes back to stock after a restart.

Definitely don't want to spend $2k on an ELM, pointless.

Any ideas?

Wonder how to set the new values as default in STAR...

Spoke to John Vranic @ Adjustable Air Ride - seems to be the guy/product.

i thought the '12 needs lowering springs in the front?... btw when you were in star, did you go to Intital Startup? thats the only way for the settings to save, otherwise car will go back to stock

Benz and Beemers
I also thought the 12 was springs in the front and links on the rear.

I have a CLS550 so I'm Airmatic all the way around. The 63s have the springs in the front.

Anyone in LA with STAR that I can play with?

Sick of these dealers, there should be a way to make it the Initial Default like xpl0sive said...

CLS 55 AMG (Fully branded CLS 63 AMG / Special Color Ferrari Grigio Titanio)
Hi,

I can't help you with my STAR since I'm located in Europe but I can tell you it works fine with CLS AMG and a european CLS 500 as well (corresponding to CLS 550 in the US).

To make sure you can calibrate and save your settings, once you are in the AIRMTIC section (may also be titled "suspension" in your DAS), you have to choose:
1 - Initial Setup
2 - Initial Setup with manual settings for new control unit/Level calibration
3 - Validate the next step with F2
4 - Then start changing your settings but make sure you remain in the allowed ranges for Front Left, Front Right and Rear
Front R & L can be calibrated separately but Rear is combined settings...

When you're done, you're proposed to change the inclination settings.
Always validate your last action with F2 to save and keep your updated settings.

Should be fine if you follow this procedure.

Good luck !

2012 CLS63 AMG
Elrajel, can you confirm that on the 2012 CLS63 AMG, it is airmatics all the way around or springs up front. Many Thanks. I need to know if I need to buy springs in the front

Many Thanks
