I got it from a eBay seller.

Fitment was great. Had to take the bumper of 3 times to align it perfectly but for the price ($485 shipped) it's great value.

Lol nice, yeah the price is definitely worth all the trouble. I too had to take the bumper off to get correct fitment. I am guessing we have the exact same diffuser without any tabs.

They look identical. I used the smallest (3/8") self tapping screws to secure it every 10 inches and it aligns perfectly now. When you take off the factory diffuser, there is a channel where the tabs go. Screws on the inside penetrating both lips of the channel and the diffuser. Nothing visible on the outside but it looks perfectly fit and very well secured.

Very interesting method, I did not think of that at the time, I ended up using a dremel and shaving all the parts that interfered with the diffuser, specifically around the 3rd brake light area and then I jammed the diffuser into the channel of tabs where the stock diffuser sat. Afterwards I followed the renntech installation procedure and even bought the exact hardware from lowes. Kind of wish I bought the diffuser with the 3rd brake light cutout, I was surprised when I saw the tabs and prewiring for it already on the car.

Love the input guys! Anyway you can post a link to the diffuser you each bought?! Want to get this done and for $485 that isn't bad.

To tell you the truth, I got $150 back from the seller so I paid $335 out of pocket. Sent them a message wanting to return the diffuser because of a very very small scratch on the clear coat and they begged me to keep it and settle with them.

I would say for $335 its worth it. If I hate it ill save up for the RT version. My other carbon components (front lip and mirrors) are from RW but it seems to all be the same quality to me.

How long did it take for the diffuser to arrive from Taiwan and how did they ship it?

They are all the same quality which is about 95% to the quality of the RennTech one.

It took 2 weeks to clean customs in china, after that another 1 week to get it. SO

Loving how this W218 community is slowly growing, really hope this forum can step up here this next year. I am only 2.5 months into ownership and my only complaint is there isn't enough info on here as far as modifications go. We need to change this!

It used to be really active back in '12 That seems so long ago now. I know there's a lot here, but you'll have to dig into the archives

We are transitioning as these cars get cheaper and yes, the launch year is always buzzing however no brand new CLS owner I bet wanted to tear into their car for warranty reasons to benefit the community. Im sure a few vendors did. For example, I am still amazed we don't have a write up on the split cooling addition for pre 2013 cars. That is something I really want to get done eventually being down in south florida but can't leave my car on a lift for weeks doing R&D as its my only car.

You have to check the E63 forum, w212 section has TONS of info.

Same car just different body style.

I am well aware of the W212 forum and the similarities in these cars as I had a W212 E63 before this car. HOWEVER, with that said, the cosmetic differences in various aspects of these cars can make the difference. In other words, if I follow an E63 thread about cooling modifications it may actually not be the same for the CLS platform. And for that reason alone there are things that I would prefer to only do to the car if I had the confirmed CLS information. It isn't rocket science, but these are cars are more different than most think! And its time we stop piggy backing off those threads as it may cause issues for some CLS owners looking to do those modifications.

From order date my shipment took 11 days from china to cali, will probably take a bit longer to get to florida. Looks like the going rate right now for the diffusers is around $600 but the key is to play around with making offers and look at the prices they were previously sold for on ebay. I would just search cls63 diffuser on ebay and try to get the cheapest one.

Split cooling is also on my to do list, looking through some previous threads, it looks like you would have to remove the front bumper to properly route everything.

The W218 AMG community on here makes me wish I bought another C63 when I bought this car. It's so quiet on here.

Yep, right there with ya. Looks like there are two around that $650-$680 mark. I just wanted to make sure I bought the exact one you guys had experience with. Like you said, they're all 95% the same, so in this case its all about the seller feedback / experience. If they are a pain in the *** its worth it to spend $30 more on the other guy who may not be. Especially since this is a large cosmetic piece that will travel halfway around the world before it gets to me.

Appreciate all the input up to this point on this.

The ebay seller I bought from was auto.dcr. If anything is wrong, it would be a huge hassle to return it to china so they will try their best to entice you with partial refunds. Also these are made pretty fresh so I would install it asap because you can still bend and form the diffuser to better fit the bumper with a heat gun, the glue was still drying on mine and it smelled bad for a while. The piece is large but light and covered in bubble wrap, packaging was pretty solid so I wouldn't worry about any damage in transportation. If you have any other questions I will gladly answer.

On another note, the renn style spoiler I bought is a super super knockoff, the design is slightly different, not necessarily a bad thing but not identical to renntech's, for example the 2 fins dont go to the backside of the trunk at all where the official spoiler kind of hugs the angle of the trunk making it easy to install. Im not complaining though, the knockoff only cost around 110 and I know for around 300 you can get an almost exact replica. I sort of feel bad for buying knockoffs and without renntech we would not have such an amazing diffuser/spoiler/splitter but I cannot justify the price unfortunately. I like to think that in certain markets like dubai they make a killing selling the real thing.
