Pics 2012 CLS63 with 20' HRE P43S Wheels- Lowered with KW Coils
Ok here are the first pics that I got of my car with the wheels and the lowering kit. Keep in mind these pics were taken by the shop tech who did the lowering so it was not a planned shoot. HRE is planning do a full shot of the car in a few weeks.
Here are some of the shout outs:
Guy Atherton and crew at HRE Wheels- my 10th set could very well be my fave!!!
Rob at Vivid Racing for the deal and quick shipping of the KW lowering system
Serge and Nick at Benzworks in Huntington Beach, CA for doing the lowering and all the adjustments.
The specs on the wheels are:
HRE P43S 20x9 and 20x11 with 255x30 and 305x25 rubber. Of course they are of stellar HRE quality.
I originally weighed my stock forged wheels and tires (19's) and the fronts weighed 55.5 lbs and rears were 59.5lbs. With the tires on the HRE's the fronts weighed in at 49.5 lbs and the rears were 53 lbs. So for what I lost in going to 20's via rolling diameter, inertia, etc. I gained in unsprung weight.
The KW kit is awesome- you get a coilover sleeve for the front that is fully adjustable. I didnt drop the car to the max but instead left the fender to the ground measurement at about 25 and 3/4 inches. The rear is adjusted via adapters that KW sends. These adapters are installed in literally seconds but they did not drop the car enough for me to match the front. Serge is a former MBZ tech and long time MBZ gearhead who does a lot of modifications, service, and custom jobs on Benzes and Bimmers so he is familiar with the adjustments of the Airmatic in the rear. Even with his expertise it took several adjustments to get the height just right. The problem was the car kept adjusting after I drove versus when we took it off the rack so fine tuning was a pain. Thank god Serge is patient and precise.
Ive only driven the car a few miles since the drop but it feels great at high speeds and in turns. I still need an alignment though.

a car that gets very poor gas mileage.
Now that turned out real nice!
So are you saying that the fronts were not adjusted to it's lowest setting?
It looks good right where it is.
Edited to add: Nevermind. Got the answer from your other post: https://mbworld.org/forums/4913905-post66.html
I see you went with the Hankook Ventus V12's.
They're my favorite 'Bang for Buck' tire and wouldn't hesitate going back to those again. Rounded shoulders are lowered-car friendly too.
After a few thousand miles, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.
Kudos for giving props to the fellas that helped you get this far.

Nice Vic, but a different set of HREs would really set it ablaze, my preference is a three piece set with a sweet lip and a simple center (like 5 spokes)..."less is more" bro.

The wheels and drop look great Vic.
I would personally love to see a 3 piece on there as well.
Nothing wrong with the monoblocks at all, the car looks amazing!

I hear you guys on the 3 piecers---I know the rule of thumb on CLS's is to go wide and all outside!!!! But the new CLS is not as friendly with the offsets for the big lips as the old body was.
I went this way also because I run the 3 piece set up on the E63 already. The 3 piece set up would be more in weight too and I was trying for the best fit of form and function. But I agree that for the ultimate in looks the 3 piece would have been optimal. I appreciate the opinions.
I just realized these pics were taken before the final lowering adjustment so I actually sit just a slight bit lower.

Looks great man, perfect drop. Btw, those are P43S not P40S, right? Also the offset in rear is not as aggressive as I expected, are you going to put some spacers on?
