As you know there are two schools of thought. I have generally gone fairly easy and have kept it in C mode until oil temp warmed up, then a few hard runs here and there in S or S+, no WOT yet though. I'm at about 750 miles.

I have had 3 Porsche Turbos, 4 BMW M's, and 5 AMG's amongst others and have always done the "hard break in" style.
Drive the car up and down the RPM range from day one... dont leave it in the higher range for longer periods of time but push the car and the seals. Run throught the gears and the rpm ranges so that the engine is used to the way it will be driven (this depends on your driving style of course).
I have always felt this made my rides stronger as the mile came on the car. The engines are relatively bulletproof, tried and tested from the factory. Drive the car the way it was meant to be driven.
There will be many opinions on how to break it in- this is just one of them.

I subscribe to the same theory as Vic, but remember: WARM THE ENGINE UP before you go nuts. I too believe these engines are bulletproof, but only when up to temp.

i start driving when RPM falss down after warming = after 15 - 30 seconds.
but i keep crusing untill oil temp is warm and changed to white.
than slam it like there is no tomorrow.
my car has now 20,000 km now and there is no problem at all.
well a rough idle sometimes, but it shakes sometimes like it sneezed ( LOL ) rarely.
did some tweaks in TB which made the response faster than before.

Hard break only on modern engines! New bore honing techniques, love the hard break in. Just beat on it for a minute, then drive slow to cool and then beat on it some more!

This is the best advice.
I picked up my 63 at the dealer and from there I drove 10 minutes to my tuners dyno and started doing pulls
