Quick impressions of Renntech on 12 CLS63.
Ok, have had the Renntech chip for a few weeks, but haven't pushed it since I was waiting on the backordered winter tires (Pirelli Sottozeroes). Got them mounted yesterday and played w/ it a little today in 32-35 F degree temps. In short, the power gains, as expected, are very significant and noticeable. So much torque now that you can really only go 1/2-3/4 throttle from standing or a slow roll (ESP in Sport of course) or else ESP kicks in and cuts torque. Obviously I'm expecting far better traction in the spring w/ warm temps and max performance 305 width rubber. Wonder if I can squeeze 315 or 325s back there?
Oh, and I can't even imagine this thing without the LSD! Must-have option (and ridiculous its not standard on all AMGs).

Agree about the LSD 100% the car has soooo much tq and hp... no car with this power should come with out it--- hell its only 2k from the factory.
I love the LSD not just from a dig but its needed in turns too.

Awesome! I just had my car tuned also and the difference is incredible. I can't wait to get it to the dyno and the track to get some results.
Let me know if you get the 315's or 325's under the car. I may do the same. Traction is certainly an issue in this cold weather

LSD is a must for a car with this much TQ. Best way to properly get that power to the ground next to tires.
Would be real nice if you can get 315's or 325's to fit in the rear.

O.K. guys, you're scaring the crap out of me!!! I just put a deposit down on a 2012 CLS62 that is very well optioned, but DOES NOT have the LSD.
Am I crazy to do this??? FYI, I have edgier cars when I need to go fast. The 63 is simply intended to replace my E55 and be a daily driver wtih a little pop.
All opinions welcome. Merry Christmas to all!

I ended up re ordering my e63 (will be here on wednesday) because it turned out to not have been configured with LSD. I debated for a month on if i need LSD or not and ended up deciding that i do. Re-ordered the car and now it will have LSD. Definitely go with LSD if u can be ok with losing your deposit.

AJag,
Now I feel a little better. I live in So Cal and the car will be my daily driver.
Plenty of dropping the hammer on freeway onramps, but I won't be using this car to carve twisties, nor will I be trying to convince myself that the 63 is a sports car, rather than a big & heavy - albeit fast - sedan for me and the family.
Sounds like I can give it a go without the LSD. Being in Orange County, there are plenty of tuners who can add one if I decide I need it at a later date.
Thanks bud. Merry Christmas!!!

No prob man. I had my 09 C63 Kleeman w/o LSD and ran it an entire IL winter w/ snow tires, so you definitely won't have a problem in Cali.

If you never had LSD you wouldn't miss it. But if you are use to it, you don't want a car without.
It matters with straight line acceleration and especially noticable when going thru the twisties.
As a last resort, you can add aftermaket LSD, but factory is the best.
