Ordered Car

I have an E63 on order but due to delays production has been pushed back. Now I am thinking due to the impending 2013 style refresh to change order to a CLS63. Is this possible to do? My dealer said it was not.

Thanks

Did you put a deposit down? I went through something like this with the dealer and almost walked away from a $1000 deposit but they came through.

Also - Is there anything out there yet on a CLS refresh for 13?

Yes I did put $1000 dep down. I might wind up working out for the best as I would have felt more committed to the car had it been produced last week.
I am getting a very good deal on the E, but that good deal could fade as I see refreshed 13's coming out so I figure fastest thing is having them locate me a CLS now.
Not sure if dealer will give me same deal though as they might not be happy being stuck with my build. However if the factory wanted to work with them I would change to CLS build now and avoid the E63 12-13 dilemma.

To your second point CLS was just refreshed for 12 so prob not until 2015 when E is due for next model.

E is looking like a 2014 refresh, not a 2013

Where did you hear that? Not sure why they would refresh a model year before new design.

ah so the new design is out in 2015 for the E? Some have said 2013, but in all honesty, i doubt they change anything, new TT just came out, so no need to do much unless its interior specs.

I'd go for the CLS

2012 CLS63
for what it's worth: I traded in the E63 I ordered last year (built July 2011) for the
2012 cls63 and I DO NOT regret it at all. I really did like the E63, but the cls is just so much better in many ways, not to mention the P30 you can add to it.....

good luck!

face lift E will come in late 2014 for the year 2015.

changing the whole new shape and body for E will come late 2016 for 2017 model.

E class whole life is 7 years.

I would suspect so, it just got facelifted didn't it? Plus this car is barely 2 years old, just don't see the point.

Other car companies do it seems to be the big thing. I have a 2010 S4 and they are refreshing it for 13 in a similar way as Mercedes is with the E.

Well I can see that, as Audi does small changes like they did from 2005-2008 and the 2003-2004's had similar rear ends but the fronts were different, same with the A8/S8

I think Mercedes has a cycle as do a lot of companies that are extended longer.

it's your money the dealer can't decide what they want to do with it.

Form what I been told MB is on a 7 year cycle with their models. The first CLS came out in 2005 so....

Also - I heard that the CLS may become the S coup...go the same way as the CLK turing into the E coup.

This may also line up with the new CLS "wagon" as being the only CLS someday and again, the current CLS become the S coup....

The E and the CLS have grown even further apart with 2012 CLSTT...honestly...at least visually and the interior...they ain't even close.

Actually, I heard the CL will become the S coupe, as it once was back in the early 90's. Also, we will soon see the S class Pullman which is the remnants of the Maybach brand. I just can't see the CLS model being incorporated into the S class lineup, they are just two different types of cars.

I would go for the CLS if you want the CLS rather than the E and not worry about the facelift. There are many discussions of the E63 v. CLS63 decision matrix on this board. I think it comes down to subjective view of style v. utility.

I love the style of the cls63 and the upgraded interior but initially ordered an E63 because at the time it was to be our only car and we needed more room. In any event the wife and I decided to pick up a good lease on a 2011 ML 350 so we could solve our utility problem and switch our order (no penalty from the dealer and they gave us the same discount off of MSRP). I am very glad we made that decision.

The CLS63 is a look at me type of car whereas the E63 is the more stately understated MB although they are both wicked as hell to drive. You can make the E63 look more aggresive with the right paint and interior combo and exterior accesories (e.g. the exterior carbon package) but the CLS does more of that out of the box. My 63 cents anyhow.

CL becoming the S coup would make more sense......I think its all speculation at this point.

I saw the first commercial today on the new E facelift...I think it said over 2000 of them and now the interior looks identical to the 218.
