Better off selling the car youself then picking up the CLS. Dealer won't give you what you are looking for.

Depends on what your needs are. Daily driver? Track? Carrying passengers in back much?

Absolutely get the 2012! Sell it yourself though. The dealer will give you nothing close to the value of your 2011.

I don't know why you started two threads. They have been merged.

BTW, Keep the C63 if you need a "drivers car". The CLS is for the old fat guys.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
But you might be able to take advantage of having to only pay the tax on the difference if you trade in based on where you live. You will have to do some number crunching to see which way you come out ahead. At the same time, consider the hassle of selling it yourself. Remember that time is money.

agreed, if you are someone wheo lives for the driving experiene, dont get the CLS, i traded my e60 m5 for one, but regret it. turbo lag/throttle response really blows. it does not feel liek a SPORTY car at all. and the idea of having a 6.3 liter v8 seems so much cooler than a mere 5.5 liter.

then again, if you just want the car because it looks good. then yes, you will likely get loads of compliments on the car.

Don't do it! I have a 3 mo old 2012 cls 63 amg. Eco stop start Does not function as it is supposed to. Every time you get in the car the eco start stop returns to its default "on" setting. You will have to turn it off every time you enter the car. The a/c no longer functions when the eco shuts the engine off. Not good in florida. There is no fix. The cup holders don't work. 20 oz soda bottles tip over . 16 oz cans tip over. The cup holder is more shallow in the amg than the regular cls b/c of the moved gear shift. There is no fix. The parking brake comes on when bump on ingress and egress. There is no fix. If you would like more specifics, just ask. Many of these are know problems, but definitely not mentioned on your test drive. And after all of this, you still want the cls 63, I will give you a good deal on mine.

I concur.

and about the cup holders, pop cans won't go down clear the little plastic spring activated things(not sloped enough) without a push, at which point the pop can slams
to the bottom of the cup holder, spilling pop!!!

it's sooo annoying.

this just doesn't seem
to be a very well thought out vehicle.

in addition I have had a rattling noise from the front suspension(sounds like loose bushings or something) going over certain bumps a certain way since I got the car, brought it to dealer, they said they found the oil cooler had no cover from the factory and was loose so they ordered a cover, and so attributed the noise to that... ??? hello ?? what the hell does that have to do with the suspension.

then the other day I braked hard coming up to a stop light, ever since the instrument cluster is now rattling and buzzing while going over bumps....

F***ING garbage.

then was handed a bill for 289 dollars for the rear diff check. 4 weeks after getting the vehicle.

what the F***.

Wow. I have rattle in both front doors. I have had it "fixed" 3 times. They both still buzz. What is even worse is the mb dealers response to all of These problems. Essentially...to bad, so sad. Their excuse is that it is all "funtioning as designed." I am tempted to go the a dealer and ask to test drive a cls 63 and bring an open 20 oz soda can. I wonder how far I'd get.

I'm looking into lemon law.

im totally in the same boat. i was thinking i had a lemon, but apparantly its just a lousy car.

i mean even the door locks rattle. maybe i should stick a couple of toothpicks down there, to stop the rattling.

my dealer says the same thing, "everything is functioning properly according to our tests" whe i told them that te=he adaptive headlights do no function. ie, they just stay on low beam all the time even when in dark roads...

Boy, I'm glad I have the 6.2 N/A.

What!...the AC gets turned off when eco mode is on?! Now that's crazy. Personally, there is really no need to have the eco mode on an AMG car. More complications=more things to break.

sheesh...knock on wood brothers....mine is doing well so far.....but it's been a weekend
car for the last month or so........I barely even romp on it lol.....
need to do that more........but then I might be complaining too.....

it's been good thus far.......
OAN:
I heard from my salesman that they had some problems with my old E63.....something about the brakes or something......lol........
the owner was not pleased apparently....
there are so many factors and variables when it comes to cars and creaks...
and things malfunctioning or the unexpected trials of ownership...like the eco S/S thing......

we're all the guinea's I guessbut it's a fun ride

Agree w/ AC off on eco mode, but I run in S+/ESP Sport pretty much all the time anyway. Haven't had any rattle issues, at 5k miles, I daily drive her. YMMV

I love my 2012 cls63 and have had no problems with it after 9 months. Its a real monster with the Renntech tune and handles great for such a big car on the KW coils. Is it as nimble as my old E90 M3 to drive? -- of course not but no car this large is, including the F10 m5. I think the real question is whether you want to jump from a mid size performance sedan to a full size performance sedan. On lag and throttle response I think this is greatly improved with a tune but you are never going to get linear power delivery and throttle with forced induction. What you do get is a nut crushing torque curve.

sounds like a lot of you guys arent too happy.... either some are extremely satisfied with no problems, or some are extremely upset with 100 diff problems.

I can understand a lot of what you guys are all saying. BUT. think about it... these are still the first few 218 CLS AMG's. A facelifted/updated one may be out in the near future to fix all the problems.

as for the creaks and rattles... Ive heard a BUNCH in my friends E60 M5, as well as my 219 CLS AMG... These are CARS... they eventually break down and lose their magic touch after a while. And yes, I do understand these are cars well over $100k... but **** happens.

no disrespect to anyone out there..

haha, same here.. Im scared even thinking about it now... BUT..how much more hp/torque do you get from your Renntech tune?

I assume the Renntech question is for me. I seem to recall about a 20 percent jump in hp and 25 percent jump in trq from my p30 numbers if I recall from my dyno sheet. Posted a thread about it a while back that you can search for along with the other threads on the time. In short, it is pretty amazing and the car is painfully fast. Just need some wider tires in the rear to improve traction. I am goin to use 305s once I burn through the oem contis.

are you kidding? this car is ANYTHING but a monster.

the acceleration is very "cushy" . it doesnt snap you back in your seat, it gently nudges you back.

is it fast yes. but it doesnt FEEL fast. whats the fun in that?

you dont want to feel like your on a plane, along for the ride. i paid this much miney to get a car that drives like a sprtscar, but still looks good.

the delay in the throttle response/power delivery makes in traffic maneuvering almost dangerous.

the other day i was in traffic and had that "quick, change lanes to overtake" split second impulse. so i quiclky turn to get to the next lane while punching the gas so as to get well ahead of thecar that was to the right of me, as i didnt want to cut them off.

well the cls turns right away, but the acceleration doesnt come for a second or 2, resulting in me almost running into the guy, and a long "honk" from an irritated driver.

i was like WTF!!!

i could do that manuever all day long in my m5. without even thinking about it. ill never attempt it again in this car.

it feels like the car has no ***** when you need it to have *****. (right now).

i could have just bought an E350. and got the same driving experience.

the people who have this car and claim its all that really need to drive a REAL performance car, like an M5 or N/A mercedes.
