Went from a 2012 CLS63 to a 2010 Pana Turbo. Flak jacket on!!!!

Guys,

I sold my 2012 CLS63 in an ill advised attempt to be responsible for awhile. The experiment lasted less than 3 months before I decided to man up and get another decent car. I figured since I already had the CLS63 and was frsutrated due to a lack of traction, that I would try the Pana Turbo with awd.

So here's the verdict.....

The interior is much more sumptuous and ergonomically friendly in the Pana. The Pana handles way better, thanks to the PDCC suspension system. I was told the PDK tranny in the Porsche is way superior, but I have yet to identify any way in which it is superior.

But most of all, the Pana is dog *** slow compared to the Benz. No comparison to the Benz, even before I flashed the ECU. And yes, my Porsche has the Sports Chrono package to give it the extrax boost.

Just a little feedback from the trenches for anybody who is interested!!!

I have had some good seat time behind a 2011 PTT... I agree with many of your points.

The AWD control from a dig creates a clear advantage and the PDK aka DCT tranny is a marvel. The car is a curver hugger but it tends to run out of steam up at triple digit speeds due to the AWD/weight.

Either way you got yourself a very nice car. I too like the interior better in the PTT.

the AWD and weight slow it down up top- the PTT-S still motors up top pretty well and a non S with a tune will be just as strong if not stronger. I really enjoyed the interior of the car... expected based on the price

Thanks for feedback. I am actually on fence to get the Panamera (it is a 2010 without Chrono) or the CLS.
In regular driving, I also found the Panamera to be a bit sluggish. I believe I am 99% sold on the CLS.

Had the same dilemma when thinking of replacement for '11 S63 that was my "daily".
In the end, decided to order CLS with everything (CCBs,PP,Carbon trim, etc).
That 5.5TT engine is just magnificent and is so tunable,I will Renntech that car to the max.
In Chicago AWD would make more sense but decided to compromise with LSD and Winter tires (adequate last 2 Winters on the S63)

Drives Slowly
^ Congrats but why the CCBs? Do you plan to track the car?

Also, if you plan to "Renntech to the max", why the PP?

I believe I read that adding the suspension components, red calipers and nicer nicer steering wheel will easily match the price of the PP. Am I incorrect?

CCBs,besides improving the ride a bit, will save me rotor warping that happened in ALL my previous AMGs (E55,C32,SL65,S63).
I get them up to speed when driving to and from my warehouse at 4am and the highway is empty (never seen any cops either).
I go through brakes like guys who track cars on a regular basis, only my old Speed lasted through my 2 year ownership but it had CCBs.
PP ordered not for the piddly 30hp increase but had to because of my CCB demand (mandatory).
Nicer steering wheel a bonus......
Besides,if I really wanted to track a car,I wouldn't do it with CCBs that wear out also, albeit at at slower rate but a huge replacement cost.
They just make more sense in my particular situation....
Car arriving this Wednesday.

Not having traction always sucks but as far is the comment about the Panamera being slow? WOW, that is new to me.

It is difficult to explain and statement about being slow can be taken out of context but I do agree with his assessment.
The car I tried was the launch edition. It did not have the chrono package and I could not get it to start in first gear in any modes other than manual. Frustrating.
The car just "feels" slower than the CLS. The CLS with the aural feedback has an urgency similar to the N/A engine. The numbers stock are in favor of the Turbo for 0-60 due to AWD but the CLS catches up and is the same at the quarter mile. The CLS has been proven to be underrated so I think with the PP, you are looking at close to 75hp difference which is significant.
I do agree that the Panamera interior is a more special place than the CLS. It looks (1 piece seat)and feels like you are in a sports car ala Aston. You sit lower in the car and it is a bit more difficult to get in and out than the CLS.
comparing both of them new, it is a no brainer IMHO because I do not feel like you get $40K worth of extra stuff in the Turbo. The GTS seems the wiser choice but then it loses in performance to the CLS.
Final points: I believe most will agree that the CLS is much prettier than the Panamera and you have 2 matte color options that even makes it more special.

Porsche 911 Turbo S 2014! E63S 14, Audi S8 13, CLS63 12, E550 12, C63 09, all tuned
I just had my CLS63 with PP at Renntech getting the suspension lowering package installed.
They did not realize that the PP did have different front struts. Had to keep it a extra day to modify tower mounts.
