Hi all, I'm from the e63 forum but I believe we have the same wheel sizes.

Let me know if anyone is running 295/30ZR19's on the stock 19'' wheels. I want Pilot super sports and this is the closest tire size to a 285/30ZR19 they offer. I did the calculations and the 295/30 is only .918% larger in circumference than the 285/30, so I'm wondering if this is enough to set off the car's ABS and traction control. Considering changing the fronts as well, if this would help with abs and tc.

A bunch of us cls63 owners are running 295s on the stock rims. I have the PSS tires and love them. I am running 10mm spacers on the rear with the 295s and am perfectly flush. However, the CLS has a wider track in the rear than the E so I am not sure if you can fit the 295s.

was wondering the same thing about 295s also

they are actually more closer in diameter to the 255s we get up front, so i found it odd that mercs uses a smaller size in the rear

Thanks for all the replies. The main thing I am worried about is ABS issues and Traction control issues, I hear mercedes cars are especially sensitive, so a different width tire will change the circumference as well. I'm so happy to hear that 295's are working for you guys! No issues at all? no rubbing, no warning lights? I know 295 is a stretch on our 9.5 inch wheels but i hear it will work. I did a lot of calculations and figured out the percent difference for the front:rear circumference ratio between original (255/35/19 and 285/30/19) and 295 (255/35/19 and 295/30/19). The ratios of these two combination of tire circumferences is slightly over 1%, not quite negligible. But if you say it's working out, I trust you! So who has everything stock and 295/30ZR19 super sports? Anything else done to the car? Are you running stock front tire sizes? Never had ABS or TC issues?

And could someone comment on the different track widths between w218 and w212, I was under the impression that e63 and cls63 shared a frame.

The chasis is the same on both the e and cls. The ability to accommodate wider tires a d wheels on the cls relates to the flared body/wheel wells on the rear. How much extra clearance on the cls v e I am not sure but I believe it is at least 10mm based on spacer fitment experience with a friends e63. There are others on this forum who should know the difference right off the top of their heads.

I tried Michelin Pilot Sports 295/30/19 at low speeds it runs quote smooth and car even becomes softer. The car's ABS and traction control light don't come up. However, when you accelerate hard the rear end of the car starts kind of shaking. I have Quallife LSD
The sidewall of the Michelin Pilot Sport tire is way softer than the stock 285s's so I think that tires shrink when you accelerate. I even tried to increase the pressure in the tires and put it to 2.5 psi and ended up with the same problems. Then I bought Pirelli Pzero stock size and car is running very smooth.
PS: Although the rear tire of CLS63 and E63 AMG are of the same size there is a difference in the wheel width. The rear wheel of a 2012 E63 AMG BT is 9,5J and rear wheel size of a 2012 CLS63 BT is 10J.

I will be running 295 or even 305 on my next tire change on my CLS 550. The wheels are 9.5" in the back and they come with 285s already. My C63 had narrower wheels and I was running 285s with no issues(3 size bigger) so I don't see any issues with putting 295 or 305s but time will tell. Remember, I have a CLS 550 and not the AMG, I am not familiar with the AMG version oem wheel size.

** UPDATE.

So I went to the MBUSA websit and I looked the wheel sizes and the 2014 CLS AMG have 10" rear wheels.. and it runs 285s. So if the regular 9.5" wheels on the regular CLS 550 are sufficient for 285s then I simply don't see why you couldn't fit one of two numbers higher. I fully understand the issue of rubbing not just the wheel well but also the inside of the the suspension components..

I just went 295s... but I think cls are 19x10 in the rear. Would any reason exist to upsize the fronts, too?
