2013 CLS63 Renntech Tune Complete 600rwhp

Looks like the 669hp tune is really 700hp+

The story....

It was a process however thanks to my boys at HPP Racing and Renntech we got it all figured out with awesome numbers…
Blue Line - First off the car had base dyno of 531rwhp from the factory which seems to be a little higher than normal from what I’ve read. This dyno was just after they finally got the new lifters for the car to rid the nasty start up clatter.

Red Line – Sent the computer off to Renntech for the 669 HP @ 5500 RPM; 734 LB-FT @ 3800 RPM tune. They said they are putting down around 580rwhp with this tune.
Our first run with the new tune it put down 583rwhp however we could hear some detonation on the top end and some power loss possibly from pulling timing. We got on some forums and read this has happened before and noticed a couple melting some plugs with this tune after a couple weeks.
We called the guys at Renntech. They agreed with HPP that it needed colder plugs or they would have to back down the tune a bit since it was on the way to more power than normal.
They over nighted us some new plugs, but it gets tricky from here.
$40 EACH plug plus a $150 tool to change the plugs. It’s not a simple job anyone can do either. Lucky we have a local friend of HPP Racing that’s a master tech at Mercedes. He said it was a 3 hour job! He came out to HPP after hours and got the job done in about 2 hours.

Green Line – With new plugs ran much better making 599.5rwhp! Good to know that $600 in plugs, tools and labor got me 16rwhp at least!

The airfuel was 11.9 - 12.1 all the way across.

So in all Renntech’s customer service was great. Of course HPP always takes care of me going there with my other toys.
If anyone is looking to do this tune or any other I would for sure get the plugs from the start. Maybe a problem finding someone that can put them in though.

Drives Slowly
Nice gains. Please let us know if the new plugs hold up. Also, I'm interested to know if CELs will start to appear after a few WOT runs.

Yes I have PP
It made the 532 stock and 600 with the tune in 100 degree heat
I haven't seen those numbers from others stock or with the canned tune. have you? They advertised the package for 669hp crank and it made way more than that.

I don't know if a Renntech tune made more than that.

But my car with PP showed 460rwhp and after tune 600rwhp in 40C degree (did not move the car from dyno) with Torque from about 5350RwTQ to 840RwTQ. So obviously the dyno I used shows lower numbers when I was stock and the gains were huge but heat is an issue because mine is 2012 which doesn’t has the extra cooling stuff. I dropped it to install them this week and I will not retune it for coolings, just want the benifit of them.

Mods were before putting the car on the dyno

- catless 2.75" downpipe
- Step 9 Spark plug ( Renntech are step 8 which are NGK)

so yes may car showed 140Rwhp and about 300RwTq (lbs-ft) with my mods on a lower reading dyno. It was 3 hours custome tune. and my boost is way more than PP boost upto Max RPM.

This is the lastest tune that was done, i can say to you it has 4PSI more than the last tune me & you had.

the difference in cooling between 2012 and 2013.

2012 : no extra H/E in the front and water circut is not splitted ( when the hot water comes out of the engine, half of it goes to Radiator and half of it goes to a H/E and then to IC core on top of the engine to cool IATs) Imagine that.

2013: split cooling circut and hot engine water is aperated from the water that cools IATs, in addition to an extra H/E in the front.

But again, I am going more than 2013 setup.

I don't have the upgraded down pipes. One other thing the first stock pull was in 60 degree whether and it was 101 out the other day we dyno'd 600. I figured the turbos my be maxed but maybe the better powpnpipes will open up some power. : ).
CTSV Wagon was night happy last night! Haha

Do you happen to know anything about the ML63 and whether anything was updated in the cooling system from 2012 to 2013 (or whether any update was needed)? I just picked up a 2013 ML63 and am getting the Renntech tune, spark plugs and filters installed this week.

yes it has the upadated one.

to make sure, remove your engine cover, and if you see a white reservoir under it and on top of the IC on the engine, then you have the updated cooling system.
