Follow up Race
What I've heard, In the last race the intercooler was not filled. Due to some service mistake or something like that I dont have a horse in the race, but here is the follow up video with a now working intercooler on the Gorilla Racing vs MHP CLS63TT's

As for the difference in state of tune you'd think that not filling the cooling system properly would have caused the car to overheat to past 240F which would warp the heads especially when racing back to back to back like that?
The car definitely runs now but I'm kind of wondering what they really did lol.
Thank you MBH for bringing us up to date!

That is more what I would expect of a car with aftermarket turbos vs one with stock turbos.

The ECU's on those cars are a bit smart once the intake temperature rises and knock sensors start to detect knocking the ECU will lower boost and retard the timing you will never warp a head in this engine unless your tuner removes all the limitations, people always forget that those are highly engineered engines with a lot of safety!
Anyway do we know what size turbos the Gorilla car is using? Dbason IIRC you have twin GT28s? How is yours running?

That makes sense but one would think especially with larger turbos capable of blowing more air and heat that ECTs could skyrocket in a single pass. I hear you on the IAT temps rising and the ECU backing timing out of the calibration this past week has been like florida in ohio, just gross hot. It doesnt take much to warp an aluminum head, a few seconds over 240-245 F will do the trick.

I know just about nothing on this car. What is being told to me and my sometimes short memory is, most likely 3rd or 4th hand info. That may have passed through a few language translations along the way. Then I have to remember what I was told and pass that on. So there is plenty room for error.
I'll take an honest answer any time I can get one!
Thanks sir!!!

To my knowledge the GT28 is the stock turbo size for the M157 and my upgraded turbos are running fine I have had them for 14-15 months now and my car runs great, waiting on some more development from the German wizards soon

I couldn't find GT24's in Garrett product list
GT2260 hmmm bro the closest one is the GT2259 at the Garrett product list and that is capable Of producing 280hp on 2.5L so if they are on your car the maximum absolute power you can make is 616hp on the crank so I think your stock turbo is bigger since you are producing more power without using the full potential yet.

Good info. I wonder if it's an OEM only turbo or something we cant order if not a manufacturer. For some reason I thought GAD and others were using GT28s or modified GT28s. I'll try and do some research this weekend. Thanks for the post.

And this is our yesterday's fight against Audi RS6 Sportmile (910hp with both nitrogen in engine and on the radiator and 850hp without nitrogen). This Audi is two times champion of Moscow Unlim 500+ in GT class. So, first video is against him with nitrogen and the second when he ran out of it:

Vasily, good kills! All of them!
Can you tell us what was different between the races posted before with the MHP S2 CLS and these runs? Was there something wrong with the Gorilla CLS before.
Thanks for posting!

Well, this is sort of experimental setup which costs around $15k. and consists of software, catless downpipes and modified turbos. All the rest is stock. The next step will be full 3" exhaust piping + airfilters + NGK spark plugs + nitrogen for the radiator + water/methanol tank for the engine. The full spec are considered to amount to ca.$25k. As of now the power at the crank is about 800-820hp (measured by Maha, in your Dynojet numbers add roughly 10%). The plan is to reach ca. 950hp at the crank.

i have couple of them on the table, so i can trust my eye for that. unless Garrett and mercedes are not pritning the write code on the turbos.
you can check the part number also A2780903060,2780903080, 2780902680, etc
